🚨 Right… who’s responsible for making today’s counter look THIS good?! 🤩🐟

(We’d like a quiet word… because you’ve all just made choosing tonight’s dinner ridiculously difficult.)

Do you go for those thick, chunky hake fillets? 😍

The beautiful Cornish cod?

The stunning wild bass?

Or do the hand-dived scallops catch your eye before you’ve even made it halfway down the counter?

And don’t forget… it’s Wednesday, so the fresh Penclawdd cockles have arrived! Alongside oysters, mussels, octopus, dressed crab, lobster tails, samphire and all the seafood favourites that seem to disappear quicker than we can put them on display.

We’ve also got gorgeous halibut steaks, our incredible AA sushi-grade tuna, fresh Cornish sardines and mackerel, all looking like they belong on the front cover of a food magazine. 📸🐟

Honestly… if fish had a beauty contest, today’s lot would all be arguing over who gets the crown. 👑😂

LAST WEEK WAS HUGE… AND THIS WEEK HAS COME STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BLOCKS! 😱🐟

Summer is in full swing, the boats are landing some phenomenal fish and this is exactly the time of year we live for as fishmongers — so we’re keeping that excitement going with another unbelievable counter!

Last week brought us our first UK-caught bluefin tuna, a whopping 6.6kg cod fillet cut from a 28kg Cornish cod, and some of the biggest fishy sights we’ve ever had through our doors. Today, Ryan is stood behind a salmon that looks like it should have its own postcode, I’m casually holding two octopus nearly as tall as I am, and the monkfish arrived with a whole red fish still inside it! 😱😂 Honestly, every delivery seems determined to outdo the last!

We have also finally got the proper-sized sardines we’ve been waiting for! The season started a few weeks ago, but we have held out until the size and quality were worth shouting about — and these absolutely are. Beautiful, plump sardines, perfect kept whole for the barbecue or prepared for you by us. Simple, affordable and one of the finest summer fish dinners going.

Then there are the raw spider crab legs, something we really don’t get through the door very often. Sweet, delicate crab meat tucked inside those enormous claws and legs — a proper treat for anyone who loves getting stuck into their shellfish. They won’t be an everyday sight on our counter, so make the most of them while they’re here!

Alongside those stars we have gorgeous salmon sides, thick cod and hake fillets, chunky monkfish, skate wings, lemon sole, plaice, rainbow trout, shining mackerel, scallops, dressed crab, octopus and plenty of our fishcakes ready to make dinner very easy indeed.

This is why summer and the fishing season are so exciting. When you deal closely with the boats and markets, every delivery is different and every box could contain something extraordinary. It’s fresh, it’s unpredictable and it’s exactly what a proper fishmongers should be!

The chains are up, the ice is down and we’re open! We can fillet, portion, steak, skin, pin-bone, vacuum-pack and ice everything for your journey home. Monday might be our smallest counter of the week, but don’t let that fool you… there’s still plenty to tempt you! 😍

The lobster tank is full of cracking live lobsters, we’ve got beautiful oysters, mussels, XL wild prawns, crevettes,anchovies, pâtés, shellfish and all those little seafood favourites that make Mondays anything but boring.

We’re open until 3pm today, so if you’re passing through Burnham, come and see what’s on the counter.

Our day boats are out fishing as we speak, and we’re putting in our orders today for tomorrow’s first fresh landings of the week.

If you’ve got your eye on something special—whether it’s a particular fish, whole fish, fillets, shellfish or something a little different—letting us know today gives us the best possible chance of securing it fresh from the boats.

You can still place orders up until 12pm the day before you need them, before the markets close, but the more notice you give us, the better. It’s one of the biggest advantages of dealing with day boats rather than warehouses—we’re buying what’s being landed fresh for you, not what’s been sitting around waiting.

It’s our first Sunday opening of the summer holidays, and we’re ready for you!

Sundays are always a little different as the day boats aren’t landing fresh fish today, but don’t worry… the lobster tank is full, the shellfish counter is packed, and we’ve got plenty of cooked seafood, smoked fish, oysters, pâtés and a selection of fresh fish ready for Sunday lunch.

If you’re looking for fresh live lobsters, prawns, shellfish or something special for a lazy Sunday snack like our prawn skewers, we’ve got just the thing waiting for you.

Pop in and see us between 9:30am and 3pm today. Whether you’re stocking up for lunch, treating yourself, or just fancy seeing what’s on the counter, we’d love to see you.

And that’s a wrap on another absolutely phenomenal SELL OUT SATURDAY! 🤯🐟

What a day. From the moment we opened the doors this morning right through until locking up, you’ve kept us on our toes. Every queue, every laugh, every recommendation, every familiar face… thank you. The support this little fishmongers receives never stops amazing us. ❤️

And for everyone who’s been asking… where did that MONSTROUS bluefin tuna head end up? 👀

Well, it hasn’t gone far! We donated it and It’s now found its new home at our brilliant neighbours Ebisu, just around the corner. If you haven’t been there yet, you’re genuinely missing out. 😂🐟

And don’t forget… we’re OPEN tomorrow for the first Sunday of the summer holidays! ☀️

Being Sunday, it’ll be a more limited fresh fish counter than our usual Saturday madness, but we’ll still have plenty of beautiful shellfish, our cooked counter will be packed, and we’ll be here ready to see you all before another busy week begins.

We loved reading every single guess, but the answer is finally here…

🐟 A magnificent UK-caught Bluefin tuna! 🇬🇧

And not just any Bluefin…

This is the biggest Bluefin tuna head we’ve ever had through the doors at Seafoods.

We’ve had some incredible fish over the years, but nothing quite prepares you for standing face to face with this. The eye… the jaw… the sheer size of it… it’s absolutely mind-blowing. It’s one of those moments where even we stopped, looked at each other and simply said, “Wow.”

When we took over Seafoods, we wanted to bring you more than just fresh fish. We wanted to build relationships with British fishermen that meant every now and then we could bring you something truly extraordinary.

This is exactly why.

This magnificent Bluefin was caught right here in UK waters, landed by British fishermen and brought straight to our counter. There’s something incredibly special about being able to offer a fish of this calibre, knowing exactly where it came from and the journey it’s taken to get here.

Of course, the Bluefin might be stealing the headlines today… but the rest of the counter certainly isn’t hiding in its shadow.

We’ve got beautiful wild bass, hake fillets, whole squid, River Teign live clams, oysters, mussels, grey mullet, rainbow trout, cooked shellfish… and those stunning, deep ruby-red UK-caught Bluefin tuna steaks that have been flying out today.

Days like this remind us why we love being fishmongers. It’s not just about selling fish; it’s about sharing the excitement of incredible catches, supporting our British fishing industry and bringing something genuinely special to Burnham-on-Sea.

We thought yesterday was going to be hard to top… then this lot turned up! 😍

First things first… YES! Our second delivery of Cornish tuna has arrived! 🇬🇧🐟

But… after the response yesterday, you’ve all been incredibly quick! We’ve only been open an hour and there’s already limited tuna steaks left! 😱

The good news? We’ve still got another beautiful loin of our incredible sushi-grade tuna, so if you’ve missed out on the Cornish steaks, you’re definitely not missing out on an amazing tuna dinner! 😋🔥

Now… can we just appreciate these jigged squid! 😍

No trawlers. No dragging the seabed. Just individually jigged, giving you some of the finest squid you’ll find anywhere. Tender, sweet and absolutely packed with flavour. Once you’ve tried properly fresh jigged squid, there’s no going back! 🦑❤️

Those hake fillets… 😮‍💨

Just look at them! Thick, pearly white and absolutely immaculate. If you’ve never tried hake before, today is the day. We honestly think it’s one of the most underrated fish on the counter. 🐟

And then… THE REAL SCAMPI! 🦐🔥

Fresh langoustines! These are what proper scampi starts life as before it ever sees breadcrumbs. Sweet, delicate and an absolute treat if you’ve never had them fresh.

This is exactly why we love what we do. Every day boat brings something different, every counter tells a different story, and today… we think this one is shouting pretty loudly! 😍

Who’s coming to see us today then? We have a feeling this counter isn’t going to look quite like this by closing time… 😉🐟🦑🦐🦀

🚨 THIS IS A FIRST FOR SEAFOODS… AND WE’RE A LITTLE BIT EXCITED! 🚨

We don’t usually dedicate an entire post to just one fish. In fact, we never have. But when something this special lands, it deserves its own moment.

For the first time ever, we have UK-caught tuna at Seafoods.

Just take a look at that fish… then look at those loins. That incredible deep ruby colour isn’t something you see every day. It’s something you remember.

People often ask what the difference is between buying from a fishmonger and buying fish from a supermarket. Well… this is it.

You can’t put relationships on a shelf. You can’t buy years of trust with the skippers who are out there before most of us are even awake, landing incredible fish. Every now and then the phone rings with an opportunity that isn’t on everyone’s list, and when it does, we don’t hesitate.

That’s how this incredible tuna found its way to Burnham-on-Sea.

It’s the same reason we had that phenomenal cod earlier. These moments come from working closely with our day-boat fishermen, sharing the same passion, and supporting each other. It’s a community that’s built on trust, respect and a genuine love for what comes out of our waters.

Fishing isn’t just a job to them, and fishmongering isn’t just a job to us. It’s a passion. It’s a way of life.

We’ve now broken this beauty down into stunning sushi-grade loins, ready for sashimi, tataki or simply seared for a few seconds each side.

Moments like this are exactly why we love doing what we do… bringing something truly special from the boats to your table.
