Western Steam Ltd Western Steam Ltd are an all female team which specialise in the production of copper boilers for live steam locomotives and traction engines.

Helen has been in the industry for nearly 40 years. Western Steam is owned and operated by Helen Verrall, the only lady in the country making copper boilers for model steam engines of all types. On leaving school in 1985 Helen was apprenticed to a local boiler makers and attended Weston-Super-Mare Technical College gaining the City & Guild of London Institute certificates. During her time with thi

s company she established her own reputation for the quality of her work and became well known among the model engineering fraternity. Western Steam was established in 1990 by Ron Walker, a former colleague and friend at the same company. Sadly Ron passed away in 1998 and Western Steam was taken over by Helen shortly after. Since then Helen's reputation as a boiler maker has grown; her quality and attention to detail means that her boilers are something to be seen and admired!
