When selecting tups this season, or feeding them ahead of tupping it is important to strike a balance to avoid them getting fat.

Tups that are fed a high concentrate diet can often end up ‘fat’ rather than ‘fit’. A good aim is to provide Sheep Super to optimise forage intake and help tups get more from forage. This has the added benefit of saving on concentrates.

Sheep Super contains minerals, vitamins and trace elements to help complement levels often found lacking in forages, including protected zinc. This will help improve rumen function and make tups fit not fat.

The right supplementation will not only help build condition but also ensure ewes receive the important minerals and trace elements that will be essential to future performance.

Feeding for optimum rumen function will help greatly towards achieving optimum body condition come tupping, but it is also be important to consider other potential deficiencies.

In areas where drought has not had such a devasting effect, there is the potential for a false sense of security that may lead to ewes not gaining the body condition they need.
