Clear to Sea

Clear to Sea A low waste refill shop selling wholefoods, natural cleaning and beauty products, and plenty of vegan, gluten free and organic options. It’s simple!
(1)

Open Tue-Sat 10.30am to 4pm. Find us at St Johns House, St Johns Street behind Bury St Edmunds library. This will be a new journey for me here at Clear to Sea. Learning how to reduce waste, both packaging and food. Unfortunately, we are living in a crazy world of endless and mindless packaging which is used only once and ends up in our bin. Most of us have seen the impact plastic is having in both

our oceans and on land. I’ve felt so saddened by this waste pollution that I am going to try and do my bit for mankind and have opened up a shop called Clear to Sea. A shop without packaging. A shop that reminds me of my childhood. We all lead busy lifestyles but have to consider a change in our consumer habits. Every little change will help our planet and everyone making that little change will definitely have an impact upon waste. Come and join me on this journey at Clear to Sea. Bring your own container; weigh it, fill it with whatever goodies you need, weigh and pay.

Going big on your washing up liquid refill?

Why not order a 5L tub just for you?

We can swap it for your old tub (as long as it has a cap!) - which can be washed and reused.

You'll also save a little bit of money buying in bulk, as well 👌

Ask instore next time you're shopping with us, and we'll add it to our next order.

Oh, and as a reminder, unlike Ecover, our cleaning liquids are made in Stowmarket by a company that is completely cruelty-free 🐇

We are open as normal today, tomorrow and Saturday - so if you're a sun worshipper (or secretly an iguana), come on in 😎

Our hours are 10.30am til 4pm.

It's cooler in the shop, as we are not in direct sunlight, plus we have the fan on full blast 🌬

So, do come and refill if you feel you can.

Bring in your old printer ink cartridges and help raise money for charity 🌞

Our new recycling collection point will raise funds for SERV Suffolk & Cambridgeshire, as we already do at the Ipswich shop Unwrapped & Refill, using the Recycle4Charity scheme.

Since 2011, the volunteers of SERV Suffolk and Cambridgeshire – aka "The Bloodrunners" - have provided an essential, free-of-charge service transporting blood, medicines and other critical items to local hospitals, air ambulance teams, hospices and more.

They can receive up to £1 per cartridge, so it's well worth bringing in your old ones!

All standard cartridges are accepted, just NOT laser and toner ones.

Another way we can reduce waste, and support our local community 🫶

Going to a BBQ but not sure what to take?

Here are a few things I took to a barbecue last weekend that everyone could enjoy:

- Crisps (Herefordshire sauce and mushroom and garlic flavours - both vegan and gluten free)
- A jar of vegan mayo (the best mayo, in my humble opin)
- A jar of tofu (this was delicious grilled, served with the mayo in a bun)
- All natural fizzy pop

Come and get your BBQ essentials at Clear to Sea this week.

Open Tue-Sat 10.30am to 4pm.

Big thank you to our St Johns Street neighbours at The Bury Framing Centre for fixing up our whiteboard.

Phil (and wife Julia) are both regulars in the shop, and I was trying to think of a way to support their services in return.

Well, with our whiteboard having decided to dip a few weeks ago, I took it along to get hooks and string added so we can hang it from a hook on the wall (rather than stick it back on like it was before).

Thank you Phil for getting it done so quickly 👏 It looks very smart!

Did you know The Bury Framing Centre also has an exhibition space with themed displays? They also provide a range of services, including:

🖼 Picture framing

✂️Mount, glass and board cutting

🏅 Medal presentation

📸 Digital photo restoration

If our stairs are too much for you, just tap on the window and we can come and help.

Maybe you need a hand with a pram - we can help you bring it up and down the steps.

Or perhaps you're a wheelchair user - we can come down, find out what you need and get it for you.

Unfortunately there isn't a way to make the building more accessible, but we are more than happy to help 🌞

Weekend treats from Bury's streets 😋

I finally popped in to Bay Tree Cafe on Friday and couldn't resist treating myself to a cranberry scone*. Twas utterly delish.

Then on Sunday, I met up with my oldest friend Angelina for lunch, and after searching for gluten free options for her, we ended up at PrimaVista Restaurants - which also had plenty of vegetarian fare on offer. Here we are with two massive pizzas (Ange was shy so asked to be cropped out of the photo for socials 🙈).

*And in case anyone was wondering, I say scone as in gone, not scone as in hone. And yes, this is the correct way to eat it. Fight me in the comments 😝

We love it when our neighbours on St Johns Street come and support us 😌

This is Marcia of .

She's become quite a regular lately, popping in every other day for her refill essentials.

Marcia says: "It's really convenient as it's just across the road!

"Everyone at work has commented how much they like the washing up liquid too."

Thank you, Marcia and pals!

It's important to support shops that are near to you, whether at home or at work. Where could you shop locally this week?

It's never a bad time to start refilling ⏰️

Unless, of course, we are closed...

Paul and Lisa just missed us on their first visit, but have since been back several times for various top ups.

I know our opening hours aren't perfect for all, but the weeks leading up to that Big Decision back in June showed that people can make time to refill if they put their mind to it.

So, thank you to everyone who keeps coming back, week after week 🙌

And if you haven't been in for a while - we'd love to see you again ❤️

We're open as normal this week - Tue to Sat 10.30am to 4pm.

Find us behind the library down St Johns Street.
