Well what a weekend down on the that was. To fish such an incredible and historic stretch of river is honestly a dream. Many thanks to James for hosting as always. Well done CMO! Once again the Wally Wings proved deadly though I did have to resort to a dark magic trick for one of the fish.

What a day in Wiltshire!!! A couple of hours on the River Avon in very challenging conditions with such low water levels. Nothing landed but I did shake hands with one.

James and I then decided to head to manningfordtroutfishery for the afternoon. Despite being drenched by a few of the showers it ended in style! This 12 lb 8oz Rainbow fell to my Blue Flash Damsel. This variant with a hackle sinks a little slower so doesn’t get caught in the w**d as much. It’s also a new PB for me and my first double.

Following the now infamous line “James, it’s a whale!” It was safely landed (just) and I didn’t need to resort to throwing him in the lake!

The guys at Manningford are doing a great job and there are some stunning fish to be had.

I’m pleased to announce the arrival of Zara Margot Grinham born last week.

Mother and little one are all doing well.

This arrival will obviously impact on my tying going forwards but I’m still able to complete orders.
