Back from Y Not Festival ⚡ and instantly packed and sent fresh order to Scrivener’s Books who if you haven’t taken a look at then you should 🥰 I blimmin love working with small businesses, always have. I used to work for River Cottage managing their deli and loved choosing products and working with small businesses and producers. If we don’t support and shout about them then they’ll disappear. How does everyone fancy dropping names of favourite makers and small businesses in the comments so we can all go and follow them? August is a tough month for independents so why not improve that slightly!

A teeny-tiny bookshop in our bigger bookshop. This mini Scrivener’s is just one of the curiosities you’ll find over our five floors.

We’re open all week. 10-5pm Mon-Sat and 10-4pm Sunday.

It’s the third week of Buxton Festival and fringe. What’s on this weekend at Scrivener’s? We only have spaces for an audience of 12 so arrive early if paying on the door.

Friday at 6.30 - 7.30 we have a solo performance from Joe Bayliss of Bayliss and Seal. ‘ Beautifully crafted songs that reach for your heart… raw acoustic and deeply human’

Saturday- Funny Onion - A Stand -Up Performance Poetry. 6.00-7.00. This will be John’s second performance at Scrivener’s and his previous show was a great success. Get there early to ensure a seat.

Sunday 3-4 - Tim Biglowe’s ‘Plonka’ has him ‘finding life’s golden ticket… and stories of fame, mishap and travel’ Tim was a nominee at Edinburgh Fringe and won best comedy at Shaftsbury Fringe 2025. Note 16 years and above.

Hi storytimers! It's summer time and the living is easy....so Diane will see you all in September when school resumes for our regular storytime fun. In the meantime, keep singing, keep enjoying stories, and Diane can't wait to see all the little ones soon!
