So the countdown begins for my good friend and armed forces veteran David J Rees Rct to walk to the summit of Pen y Fan following his DOUBLE LUNG TRANSPLANT last October after many treatments did not work !!!
He is walking to the summit to raise money for the Lung transplant team at the QE Hospital Birmingham and Fisher House who supported his family.
Dave is honouring his donor and family by walking with his new lungs 🫁, staying healthy to live a long and happy life with his beautiful wife and family.
To all my friends, your extended friends PLEASE share the go fund me link and add a few pennies if you are able to the pot.
At the beginning of his journey Dave told me he wanted to raise £500 and I laughed , winked and said if an armed forces veteran and lung transplant survivor can’t raise more … there is truly something wrong with the world.
So here I am asking for help ! I raised the go fund me goal to £3k and we smashed it.
How brilliant would it be to raise this to a final total of £4k ?!
So I need all your help please. Share the link with friends, your work places , local businesses and help me raise his final total.
The walk is on Saturday 13th Sept 2025. I will post photos of Dave and support team at the top of Pen y fan. This is not an ordinary stroll - this is a real challenge for Dave.
Dave , his family and myself would like to thank the lung transplant team, Fisher House , everyone for their support and a special thanks to his donor and family, a selfless act which has saved Dave’s life to allow him more adventures with his family.
Many thanks in advance for all your help

A poem from Dave
A second chance at life, a debt to pay,
To donors dear, who gave the gift of breath today.
A transplant team, with skilled hands so fine,
Gave him new lungs, and a life redefined.
The Veterans’ care, a haven for his own,
His wife and family, supported, never alone.
With gratitude deep, he wants to give back,
To those who helped, with a generous track.
Pen y Fan’s peak, a challenge to face,
A climb that tests, but also shows his pace.
From near death’s door, to summit high,
He walks for donors, with a grateful sigh.
Nearly £4000 raised, a testament to his might,
Honouring those, who gave him new light.
With every step, a prayer, a thought, a plea,
For donors’ families, and memories to be.
And as he reaches the top, he knows it's true,
This second chance, is a gift, lived anew.
