It’s the first weekend of 2026 and the Woodyard is open. Here’s my timelapse video of the route from the Equiano Bridge to the yard on Cheddars Lane. We will be open this weekend and next from 10 to 5, and I will be there on weekend 3. Hope to see you there!

I’ve had these two bits of burr elm for years- couldn’t quite work out what to do with them. However, some friends fell in love with them so that was the push. The voids are filled with resin, and some of them have small treasures embedded.

Tulipwood, or American poplar, is the most diverse timber for colour I’ve ever worked with. This is an exceptional bit- pink, green, grey and yellow. Sadly this colour fades quickly and becomes a dingy greeny brown, so us woodworkers are the only people who get to appreciate its beauty
