She Believed she was a child of God — but did she know what that meant?

Not a title to earn. Not a status to prove. An inheritance you already have.

Authority. Safety. Comfort. Love. Closeness. Provision. Help. Chosen. Belonging — all sitting inside one word we throw around without unpacking it.

Here’s the thing: identity isn’t a label we wear. It’s the way we’re wired to be — what we believe underneath everything, and how that spills into how we act. And when this truth moves from “I know that” to “I KNOW this” — it changes how we rest. How we forgive. How we receive grace we didn’t earn. How we face the thing we’ve been avoiding.

Identity can feel like something to chase. But this one isn’t chased — it’s given. Free of our past, our pain, our proudest moments. Anchored in hope, not performance.

Even in the margins, it’s so important to keep that truth at the forefront — who we are in God, and who God is, are the anchors for our identity.

You may not have an hour for an aesthetic quiet time. But God meets us in the margins — the 5 minutes here, the declaration there, the worship song on in the car. Life being full doesn’t mean He’s stepped back. He wants to walk it with you, right in the middle of it.

It’s hard to remember that God’s love for us came FIRST. Especially when we’re out here trying!

Trying our best, working hard, building, raising kids, distracted, saddened at the world, searching for hope, hustling, serving, trying to do the right thing, care for the environment, keep a hold on the budget in a tight economy. Trying to be all things to all people!

I see you! It’s tough. That’s why we need to keep coming back to who we are in Christ, our anchor ⚓️ and our hope in Him.

God loves us in the mess as much as in the success. We’re not defined by our good or our bad but thankfully by Him and His love for us.

Take a breath and rest in that for a moment. Life doesn’t stop, but rest in the truth of His love today and trust in His ability to show up in the midst of every aspect of your life.

Somewhere along the way a lot of us may have picked up the idea that God’s love or His continued love for us is a prize for good behaviour.

We accepted Jesus through faith because of Grace but then we reverted to working hard and believing that Gods’s love is attached to what we do for Him and others and our good achievements.

I’m not negating good works and partnering with God and having faith. But all of these need to have their foundation in our identity in Christ and His love for us first.

I’m having a great day - I’m loved
I’m having a bad day - I’m loved
I’m nailing life - I’m loved
This season is hard and I’m struggling - I’m loved

The good seasons don’t define us and the bad ones don’t either. Yes we are changed by them and built by them, we learn from them, we experience joy and pain because of them, and God uses every bit of them. But first and foremost we are defined by God and loved by God. The overflow of that allows for rest and struggle and doubt and faith, for highs and lows and everything in between.

Some seasons don’t look like progress. They look like slow, bitty, three-kids-and-a-full-life kind of building. 🤍

People ask us how we’ve managed it — the honest answer is: not easily, not always well, were works in progress. But God wired both of us with a desire to create and build, and when we ignore that? Something in us withers.

We’re at the age where it’s easy to talk ourselves out of starting something new. There are so many good reasons not to. Being a beginner again is humbling. Life is busy.

But we’ve lived the alternative — playing it safe, staying still — and it’s dull. In every way.

So he built a guitar. I built She Believed. Different tanks, same conviction: you were made to create, not just to cope.

What we have learnt and are learning is to build from a place of rest and not striving (we still have sleep interrupted nights and busy work seasons), which is a heavy trust move. Trusting in God and His timing and the slow burn rather than the rushed striving is not something we do naturally - but I guess that’s the point - if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right and doing it with God.

As the old saying goes, “how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time”

Why declare God’s Word over your life?

Because God’s Word isn’t passive — it’s alive and active (Hebrews 4:12). It doesn’t just sit on a page. It moves, it works, it accomplishes what it was sent to do.

And death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21) — what you speak carries weight.

One of the Hebrew words for “word” is davar — and it doesn’t just mean speech. It means an active, tangible thing. When God speaks, it happens. His davar isn’t just information — it’s creative power.

So when you declare God’s Word over yourself and your family, you’re not reciting nice sentiments. You’re aligning your mouth with something that is already alive, already active, already at work.

To every Christian woman drowning in a to-do list longer than the Nile

I see you’re holding it all together, or at least trying. Me too. You’re a fixer. A doer. You’ve become accustomed to spinning all the plates. And your nervous system is feeling it to.

The good news is, God doesn’t need an hour of quiet time to lift you up.

He wants to carry you through the day you’re actually in, walk with you, breathe with you, love you.

A few ways you can keep His word and His love at the forefront…
• Say your declarations after you brush your teeth
• Breathe a prayer while you make breakfast
• Listen to His word on your commute

Not because it’s a duty. Because it fills your cup —
and you’re pouring out so much, He wants to pour back in.

I love a good aesthetic, a coffee shop vibe and a clear schedule, it just isn’t that doable in this season, so we pivot.
