A message from Masterharp’s former owner, John Ingham.

I was very sad to hear of Dick Sjoberg's passing this last week. For nearly 10 years Dick and I worked on advancing his tuning table here in the US. I got to know him very well and will miss him very much. We were just a couple of older guys trying to do the right thing for harmonica players around the world.

Just a few days before he passed he became aware of Masterharp's new owner, Dan Leighton, and of that owner’s enthusiasm for the project that seems, very likely, on a par with ours. He went to his final resting place knowing this.

I think it gave him not a small amount of comfort knowing that his legacy, and all our years of effort were not going to waste.

It wasn't easy for either of us moving this project forward but I'm sure now that Masterharp will live on and evolve as he would have liked.

Rest in peace Dick, bye for now, from your friend and fellow harmonica lover,

Some very sad news to share of the death this week of our founder Dick Sjöberg. Dick created his first version of the harmonica tuning table aiming to make it possible for everyone to tune their harmonicas as well as they possibly could. I was privileged to have a few, very lovely, conversations with Dick since taking on the company a few weeks ago. He was super encouraging, and delighted that the tuning table was coming back after dedicating so many of his years to its creation. We will miss you Dick, and thank you for all your encouragement, we will do you proud.

We launched a shop! shop.masterharp.com This is because we, kind of accidentally, let the cat out of the bag by updating a photo - and then the whole page sprung back into life! Thank you so much to everyone for all the supportive comments today. So many wonderful kind words from people and such positive support for our tiny little company. Thank you, it means a lot. As we've said in a few comments, it is going to take us a while to get back into a sustainable form of production but, in the meantime, if you want to support us you can visit our new shop! You can snag a fancy mug, or a swanky new t-shirt with our new logo 🥰 You will definitely be the first person in your town to have any of these!

We are making progress... Masterharp has been bought by a new owner and we are trialling how we get the wonderful tuning table designed by Dick Sjoberg and John Ingham back in production.

The new owners are based in Cambridge, UK, and have access to an amazing range of tools, technology and people to help get things going again!

It has been a wonderful ride, we have built and sold many fine tuning tables, but I have to retire myself from Masterharp. At my age I just can not keep up with it all. If you are interested in taking over please let me know. Sale will include all inventory, lots of Goodwill to help you get off the ground, all drawings, future table plans, solid models, web site and all other things associated with masterharp.com.

So, if you are mechanically inclined please let me know you are interested. I'd really like to get someone from the community to take over and move it all into the future. You will have a ton of support from me just as I had the support of Dick Sjoeberg as I took over some eight years ago.

The State of Masterharp

It has been really hard work on my part to make these tables. For what I have charged for them to date I have not made any money or anywhere near broken even. I know boo-hoo and or *sigh* but I just can not keep doing that. So as of January 1st 2021 I am raising the price of both the ST16 tables. I’ll be pricing them at what they are worth considering time to fabricate, 3D print, machine, assemble. finish, test and ship these wonderful tables.

Additionally, as I’ve mentioned else where, I am only going to build about fifteen more of the ST16 line of tables and that is it. That number was eighteen just a few weeks ago so they will eventually be gone. So if you are serious about buying an ST16 tuning table now would be a good time.

It is has been amazing to me how well tables are selling in the age of Covid! We are now sold out of the ST16 series and looking into the holidays with no inventory! Yikes! I have always sold a few tables running up to the holiday season and this one seems no different buy the looks of it.

So, if you have bee toying with the idea of buying a tuning table fear not! I am currently working on a batch of 10 and expect that they will be sold out sooner rather than later. I am taking preorders so let me know what you play and or repair via the Talk to Me link at www.masterharp.com and will get one too you well before Christmas.
