A quick outline of out opening times over the Festive Season.
Of particular note:
Closing at 4pm on Christmas Eve.
Closed Christmas Day
Open at 9am Boxing Day and New Years Day.
Newspaper deliveries every day except Christmas Day but will be a little later than normal.

A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our customers, friends and suppliers and many, many thanks for your support through 2019.

We're off!! The cakes!! They're wonderful!! So brilliantly prepared and kindly donated by our wonderful supporters. Get down here quick to help us raise much-needed funds for the Wear It Pink Breast Cancer charity.

Come along to Canonbie Post Office & Shop and get your chance to win one of the many prizes we have in out Wear It Pink raffle all very generously contributed by our many supporters. We have vouchers for meals at the Cafe Royal, Annan, the Graham Arms in Longtown and the Eskdale Cafe in Longtown along with bottles of wine, exciting and desirable gifts sets, delicious chocolates, jigsaws (ideal for Christmas) tickets to fish on the Esk, biscuits and many more. They are still coming in.

Tickets are a pound a strip or 5 strips for a fiver. ALL the money raised goes to the Wear It Pink Breast Cancer Charity.

We are all Wearing It Pink again this year with our funding raising effort to help research into breast cancer. We have some really great raffles prizes very kindly donated by our customers and friends. A full list will follow shortly but they are still coming in! Call in and help us beat the £845 we raised last year and in the process, beat breast cancer.

We are Wearing It Pick again this year and the main day is Friday, 18th October 2019. Before then please call in join in the raffle and other games to raise funds for a very worth cause. Last year we raised £845 and with the generous help of our customers and friends we aim to beat that figure. We have been overwhelmed by the raffles prizes so kindly donated - they're still coming in - and a full list will be on line shortly.
So please, come on it, help us with the good cause and thanks you for supporting your local shop.

Just a brief update from Canonbie Post Office. I am seeking to retire as some stage and as I'm 75 is September ( I know, you might not believe that but it's true!) I thought that I would start a process that will enable me to do so. I am advertising locally to find a solution that suits all concerned.
The shop will not close and will continue to provide the wide range of essential services to our customers.
I expect the sales of alcohol to resume as soon as the Eskdale & Annandale Licensing Board can convene a meeting. The July meeting was cancelled as the staff were unable to raise a quorum of 3 councillors to convene it! In the meantime, I can only apologise for any inconvenience you may have suffered and rest assured, everything possible is being done to be able to offer alcohol again.
We also seek you help in another fund-raising effort for cancer in October and details of that will be published in the next week or two.

News from Canonbie Post Office.

Monday, 3rd December could be a difficult day. Scottish Power are doing maintenance work on the power lines in Canonbie and we have been informed that we will be without electricity from 9am until about 4pm.
The shop will be open but postal services will be limited. Please bear with us as we will be doing our best to minimise any disruption. We apologise for any inconvenience to our customers.

Well, the Canonbie Post Office & Shop Fundraising Fortnight in aid of Breast Cancer Research was AWESOME!! And our A TEAM here was truly AMAZING. A cash count at the end of Friday, 19th October, which was Wear It Pink day, amounted to £772.10 and donations are still coming in. We will be able to send off over £800 to this very worth cause.
And here's the A TEAM who led the effort. Our stalwarts of the Post Office, Hayley and Liz and great friends from Royal Mail, Jen and Linda. Signed copies are available for a generous contribution but may shred themselves once we have the money!
Many, many thanks to you ladies. What a team!
And also many thanks for the donations of tasty home baking, raffle and lucky dip prizes and most of all, to the hundreds who supported us in so many ways. For a wee Post Office and Shop in the Border village of Canonbie, it was a magnificent effort.
