The Spin-Hinge will really level up your Makedo tool box! 🔨

On our bus, we’ve used the Spin-Hinges to create our door, sunroof, and connected our top and bottom boxes with hinged motions.

And with its 360 degree spinning motion the possibilities go far beyond this. You can even use the Spin Hinges as static braces to reinforce corners and edges.

📣Makedo is finally back in the UK!

Let us introduce you to Makedo, our favourite cardboard construction tool.
Children aged 5 + can use the Safe Saw to cut cardboard and then screw pieces together using the simple Scru-driver and Scru system. From there, the possibilities are truly endless (more on that soon!)

The Explore set provides everything a budding architect needs to get started, with options to grow their toolbox as creations get more ambitious.

⭐️Meet the author, craft drop in workshop ⭐️

Join illustrator Lizzie Lomax and Whirligig Toys for a creative craft drop-in session. This workshop is inspired by the sustainable nature activities in her new book Rewild This Book; encouraging you to use imagination and creativity whilst being introduced to the crucial concept of Rewilding.

Pop along to Whirligig toys Brighton between 11 and 3 to get involved. Copies of Lizzie’s new book will also be available to purchase.

It’s competition time! ☀️

Shaun is on his way to Whirligig! But he’s looking for a baa-rilliant new jumper to show off about town. Can you help?

Come down to Whirligig Brighton to take part in our exclusive jumper designing competition. We’ll have pens, pencils and design sheets, so all you need to bring is creativity!

We’ll then choose our favourite jumper design and the winner will receive copy of the new Shaun the sheep kit from Build Your Own signed by the creator, Nick Park! Plus a Build Your Own mini build of your choice.

The competition will run between Saturday 27th June and Sunday 12th July.

Design templates can be collected and completed at our Brighton store on Saturday, or, take them home and bring them in before the deadline.

It’s a Makedo Make and Do Saturday!

Join us this weekend to make cardboard creations using Makedo tools. We’ll have everything you need to make cardboard crowns or peekaboo ladybirds.

If you’ve not heard of them before, is a fabulous cardboard construction toolkit which allow children (and bigger makers) to safely build with up cycled cardboard. Using the child-safe saws, Scrus and Scru-drivers, to name a few, you can create endless projects.

Makedo has just arrived back in the UK and we’re lucky enough to be one of the first to get our hands on it. We’ve been having lots of fun seeing what we can make and we’re just getting started. So bring along your budding engineers and let’s get creative!
