We need one or two people to come and help UV Lab build an incredible sculptural lighthouse at Dover Castle from tomorrow to next Wednesday 21st. These are amazing guys and you'd learn loads about constructing sculptures and working with waste wood. You'd need to a relatively good level of fitness and be able to lift.

NEW LOCATION!!
DOVER STUDENT MAKERS MARKET
ST JAMES RETAIL PARK, DOVER CT16 1QD
SATURDAY 29th MAY
10-5pm

We’ve changed the location of Saturdays market to which is a busy shopping park very close to our original space.

We were planning to use this space in June, but have moved over early due to reports of a possible anti illegal immigration protest coming to Dover on Saturday. The local police are monitoring the situation and at this point there is no indication that it will be a significant event, but to make sure our event can go ahead and safeguard our traders we decided to move.

Please come and support our young traders!!

Huge thanks to for providing space for us. We were so frustrated when we heard a protest was being planned on the same day as our FIRST EVENT SINCE LOCKDOWN!!
The people planning this protest live hundreds of miles from Dover. Dover is the friendliest place we have ever had markets. Dovorians are tolerant and welcoming people!

Dover is a town of multiple deprivation, its town centre has deteriorated even further due to lockdown with the loss of many independent small businesses. It suffers gridlock with Brexit, covid-19 and customs issues. Residents cope with the huge levels of freight and holiday traffic that move through the town (2019 = 2,397,270 lorries, 73,856 coaches, 2,000,966 cars, 10,863,262 passengers).

It’s so unfair that the town is being disrupted, just as we’re trying to have some fun - and it gets a further reputation for intolerance due to people who don’t live in the town and won’t contribute in any way to improving anyone’s life or circumstances.

As much as anything we wanted to continue with this event as our own protest!

The   is taking place alongside the DSMM.
