Last Wednesday I had the great honour of attending St James’s Palace to celebrate Redmayne receiving The King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade and to meet His Majesty The King.
It was an extraordinary day, but what made it particularly special for me was what I was wearing.
My bespoke double-breasted blazer and coat were made by Molly Hayne here in our Cumbrian workshop. Molly joined Redmayne as an apprentice at just 18 years old and, through hard work, determination and a great deal of talent, has developed into an exceptional coat maker.
Standing in St James’s Palace, representing a company I care so deeply about, whilst wearing garments crafted by one of our own team, was a moment that made me immensely proud. Not just of Molly, but of what Redmayne stands for.
Although I was there attending the event, it really belonged to every member of our team whose skill, dedication and craftsmanship continue a tradition that began in 1860.
Some moments in business are measured in figures and milestones. Others remind you exactly why you do what you do.
This was one of those moments.
