🎉 Brand New M&S School Uniform – Round Two! 🎉

A massive thank you to all the local families who came into Oxfam Clarkston yesterday. The response was incredible, and we sold hundreds of items of school uniform!

We restocked late yesterday afternoon, and now we're on the final round – every remaining piece of brand new school uniform is now out on the shop floor.

Our latest stock includes:

📦 Packaged school shirts

💙 We'd also like to say a huge thank you to our amazing volunteers, who worked alongside the Shop Manager over the last two days to price and replenish all of the uniform. It was a huge amount of work, and we're so proud to have helped so many local families.

Please note that, due to the sheer volume of stock and the recent hot weather, the school uniforms have not been steamed. Looking after the wellbeing of our staff and volunteers during the heatwave has been our priority.

👔 We're now looking for donations of good-quality second-hand school uniform, including school blazers and ties, as we're working on a new project to support the Clarkston community even further.

Donations of school uniform, as well as any other donations, are welcome:
🕘 Monday–Saturday: 9am–5pm
🕛 Sunday: 12pm–4pm

Today we want to take a moment for volunteer appreciation at Oxfam Clarkston 💚

From the volunteers who help run the shop throughout the week and manage their own departments, to those who have dedicated 20 years with us, volunteers who have been part of the team for the past few years, and the new volunteers who have recently joined us - every single person plays an important role in making our shop such a welcoming and successful place.

A very special mention goes to our amazing young Clarkston team volunteers. It is truly inspiring to watch their confidence grow, develop new skills, and see many go on to paid jobs and exciting opportunities.

We also love encouraging creativity - our colourful window display (second photo) was designed by one of our talented 16-year-old volunteers who only recently joined the team.

Thank you all for your kindness, hard work, creativity, and commitment. Oxfam Clarkston simply would not be the same without you.

🎓 Leaving school, finishing college or university, or have some free time over the summer? Looking to build confidence, gain retail experience, learn new skills, and enhance your CV?

Join the team at Oxfam Clarkston! We’re welcoming volunteers of all ages, including 16 and 17 year olds leaving school this year, young people 18+, students, and adults of any age.

✨ Gain valuable retail experience
✨ Build teamwork and communication skills
✨ Boost your CV and future applications
✨ Meet new people
✨ Support a great cause

🛍️ Volunteer roles include working on the till or helping in our clothing, homewares, music, books, and children’s departments.

🔑 Volunteers aged 18+ can also develop management skills, working alongside the management team to help run the shop. Opportunities include opening and closing the shop, banking, leading a team, training new volunteers, and building leadership experience.

👏 We are currently full for volunteers aged 14 and 15 after welcoming an amazing group of four young volunteers to the team. Due to tighter safeguarding requirements and child work permit arrangements, we are currently focusing on recruiting volunteers aged 16+.

Whether you can give a few hours a week or more, we’d love to hear from you.
