Another new Scottish maker has landed at HAYM - say hello to Ardroy Creations!

Based in Perthshire, Ardroy Creations handcrafts gifts and homeware from wood, slate and cork, combining rustic charm with lots of Scottish character.

We've got a lovely selection now in store, from distinctly Scottish designs and fun wild swimming sayings to beautiful pieces that would make rather lovely wedding gifts... which seems particularly appropriate this week! 💍😂

Sustainability is important to Ardroy too, with responsibly sourced materials used throughout, and even their packaging is designed and printed by them.

And speaking of weddings... today is your last chance for a HAYM nosey until Tuesday! 👀

We're off to celebrate so HAYM will be CLOSED Friday, Saturday & Monday, reopening on Tuesday. 🥂❤️

as we're heading down to the Gretna Green area for a very special reason - to celebrate the wedding of another
Mr & Mrs Reid! 🥂❤️

I love the idea that we're heading to the home of runaway romance for a wedding, and we're even staying right across from the famous Old Blacksmith's Shop! 💍 (Warning: cheesy photos incoming 🤣)

We're so looking forward to celebrating the happy couple and welcoming another Mrs Reid to the "family". ❤️😂

Apologies if you were planning a visit this Friday or Saturday - I'll be back behind the counter as usual next week.

NOT DEAD YET... 🪴😂

A lovely HAYM customer very kindly donated this spider plant to the shop and suggested I give it away FREE with the next Mason & James planter I sell. 💚

And the timing couldn't be better because we've just had a top-up of all your favourite pots, complete with their usual selection of silly slogans.

Now... it is not by accident that I've chosen to put our little adoptee in the "Not Dead Yet" pot. 👀😂

I've already forgotten to water it this week, so this perfectly sums up its current status ... but I'm not making any promises about how long that will last.

Basically, someone needs to come and rescue it before I actually do kill it. 🤣

So, who's going to give it a loving home?

STRAWBERRY SEASON FOREVER 🍓

Anyone who knows me will know I'm not exactly a sun worshipper, so the end of summer doesn't make me too sad. I'm not a fan of being freezing either though, so the transitional seasons are definitely a bit of me - cosy jumper weather without actually being baltic. Perfect. 😂

What I do not love about the end of summer though is the end of strawberry season. 🍓💔

I was genuinely sad to hear East Scryne announce that there's just over a week left before they close their doors for another year. Their strawberries are just SO good - we're very lucky here in Angus to have some of the best berries around.

I absolutely love them on my Greek yoghurt for breakfast, so quite frankly... what am I supposed to do now?! 😂

Anyway, if like me you'd quite happily have the best berries all year round, we can't help with the edible kind...

BUT we do have these gorgeous Floh Jam Packed Soap & Hand Creams, bursting with love and fresh berry goodness. 🍓🫧

Not quite a punnet from East Scryne Tearoom and Fruitfarm shop🍓☕️🍦 .. but they do smell pretty delicious!

RIP DOLLY 💔

Such sad news last night - the wonderful Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.

What a woman. An incredible singer and songwriter, but also someone known just as much for her humour, kindness, generosity and for never being afraid to be completely herself.

Her music has been part of people's lives for generations - Jolene, I Will Always Love You, 9 to 5 and so many more - and I'm sure there will be a lot of Dolly playing today. ❤️

It seemed only right to share our brilliant 9 to 5 print by Pamela Scott in her memory.

RIP Dolly Parton, 1946 - 2026. 💛

SNIFF OUT SOMETHING NEW 👃🕯️

We had a lovely top-up delivery from The Candle Bothy at the weekend, bringing back some old favourites AND introducing a couple of brand-new scents to HAYM.

🍂 Cosy Nights is back! We're not quite ready to admit autumn is on its way... but if it has to come, it might as well smell this good.

And joining the collection for the first time:

🌿 A Breath of Fresh Air - fresh, calming and inspired by fields, forests, the coast and that lovely fresh scent after a summer rain shower.

🍵 Green Tea, Bergamot & Fig - a calming, rejuvenating, spa-like blend of green tea, fresh citrusy bergamot and fruity fig.

Both are available in candles, diffusers, melts and car scents, alongside lots of your Candle Bothy favourites.

FRIDAY? I'LL DRINK TO THAT! 🍸

It's Friday, it's nearly the weekend... time for a drink! (Or not - you do you! 😄)

If you do partake, what's your favourite tipple? Gin? Whisky? Vodka? A nice cold lager?

HELLO? IS ANYBODY THERE? ☎️😂

It has come to my attention that the HAYM phone isn't working... and I'm now beginning to realise this may have been an issue for quite some time. 😬

So, firstly, huge apologies to anyone who's tried to phone us and thought we were just ignoring you! I promise we weren't.

I'm working on getting it fixed as quickly as possible and, in the meantime, you can still get in touch with us through social media, email or pop into the shop.

It seemed only fitting to accompany this announcement with NOA Art's brilliant 'Telegraph Pole' slate piece.

I'm fairly sure the remote bothy in this picture has better telecoms than HAYM currently does. 😂

P3 IS TOUGH GOING... ✏️😂

Yesterday was the first day back at school and it would appear P3 is tougher than expected...

Can you believe our little darling has managed to use one of her brand new pencils so much that it's already been reduced to a stump?! 🤣

We're fairly sure the workload isn't quite that intense and suspect the excitement of using her new pencil sharpener may have had something to do with it... 😏✏️

Anyway, if like us you're somehow already on the lookout for more new stationery, we've got you covered!

From pencils and pens to notebooks, pencil cases and plenty of other lovely bits and pieces - there's lots in store to make heading back to school that little bit more fun. 💚
