The Somerset Wine Company We love Somerset, we love w**e. Bringing the two together in The Somerset W**e Company is a dream come true.

A contemporary, aesthetically pleasing 'social w**e shop' with a carefully curated international w**e selection located at Market Place, Castle Cary along with The Deli Castle Cary. We aim to promote local West Country smaller producers of craft ales, ciders, w**es and spirits as well as showcasing an international selection of fine w**es around the world and from emerging regions and interesting grape varieties. This way we call all learn more about this magic subject of w**e and have fun doing it. Tasting w**es before you buy, with great local cheeses alongside, in our contemporary style 'social w**e shop' is the core raison d'être of the business. We are located at Market Place, Castle Cary, appropriately a former C***r House (The Angel Inn), soon to be transformed as a cool new destination for great coffee, food and w**e. Watch this space as we evolve and unfold beautiful things!

Really chuffed to have my piece for the JancisRobinson.com W**e Writing Competition 2026 published as one of the chosen entries. This year's theme was to write about a w**e paired with something other than food - think a view, a book, a film, a painting, an experience or, as I chose, an item of clothing. I paired my old green silk mandarin-coloured jacket with a Fattoria Coroncino • Vignaioli nei Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio, the white w**e of my home area, Marche, in Italy. A couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of welcoming guests to our Summer W**e Tasting in the beautiful and abundant orchard at Teals. We spent the balmy summer’s evening showcasing w**es and ciders from some of our fantastic suppliers - both local and national. A donated truckle of wonderful Montgomery cheddar provided sustenance amidst the 50 w**es!

A huge thank you to all who joined us and who have supported us over the years. The evening also celebrated our 5 years of collaboration with Teals via our concession shop there. So a big thanks to Teals for working with us and hosting us so generously.
