A recently completed project for St. Andrew's Church, Leicester.
This is a frontal which was in desperate need of restoration, the gold work having seriously deteriorated over time.
On inspection I found that the frontal had been made from older panels of goldwork on velvet, which had been previously mended and mounted between newer damask panels.
I saved as much of the old goldwork as possible, re-stitching it to the ground fabric, and replaced any which was missing or beyond repair. Each panel was then covered with Conservation Net which will extend the life of the frontal for some years to come

To begin my story ...... here is the first Cope I made. It was made for my husband's 25th anniversary and features..... on the back a dove of peace over the flames of Pentecost..... on the front the crowned A and M (Ave Maria) representing Our Lady and an empty Cross draped with the empty shroud.
Instead of the usual symbolic hood this cope features an actual hood lined with gold and decorated with a large tassle. The cope is fastened with a metal chain and hook.
The fabric is lightweight damask lined with polycotton with machine and hand embroidery.
