ONE HOUR PARKING RESTRICTION ON KING STREET

It seems the Govt/Council were trying to slip this one under the radar... 🤬

They are trying to impose a 1 hour waiting restriction on King Street. This will be devastating to local cafés, restaurants, hairdressers and beauty salons. It will also inevitably impact other shops that people would normally visit after any of the aforementioned establishments. It seems very little consultation has been done, certainly no Business Impact Assessment at all. And it begs the question as to what they will do about residents on King Street. No doubt they would need to introduce parking permits, which even if they start free, I would bet good money that they'll be charging for within 5 years (as they do in most other places).

At an absolute minimum, I think the waiting time should be 2.5 hours so businesses aren't impacted and there should be a guarantee IN WRITING that there will never be charges for residents permit parking.

Unfortunately the time to object is already over (13th Feb!) but our town councillors appear to be against these proposals and it seems that currently the process has been halted. Although for how long we don't know.

If you object to the one hour parking restriction on King St, please email the council TODAY. There really is no time for delay on this one.

Hi everyone! I can’t believe i am writing this…..i have butterflies in my stomach as we speak 😬 sooo……i’ve been dropping hints on facebook and most of you lovely customers already know 😄 i’m opening a wee cake shop in Castle Douglas 🎉🎉🎉 next week 😬😂
i will have a selection of treats, cakes & cakeshakes for sale in the shop aswell as a small selection of cake decorating equipment, novelty candles & cards. I know how alot of you love to make & decorate your own cakes and love things a wee bit different. Hopefully this selection will grow over time 😃
This has been my dream since day dot, all those years ago. Never did i ever think this would happen 😄 but i’m super nervous, im not afraid to admit that and i will probably look like death for the next week, just warning you all🤣🤣
Opening next Friday 15th and Saturday 16th so come along & get some wee treats and supplies 😃
