World Mental Health Day 2026 💚

This year, this feels very personal.

The last few weeks have been really hard. I’ve been struggling with anxiety, huge adrenaline rushes, dizziness and feeling so unlike myself. Things I would usually do without thinking have suddenly felt overwhelming.

I’ve shared little bits on here, but behind the scenes I’ve been trying to get through the day, look after my children and keep my little business going while wondering when I’ll feel like me again.

I’m getting help, but I’m still in the middle of it. Some days are better than others, and I’m learning that pushing through everything isn’t always the answer. Sometimes you need to take a step back and let people help you something I’ve never been very good at.

The kindness since I said I was struggling has meant more than I can explain. Your messages, people sharing their own experiences, and my lovely volunteers helping keep Forever After open… thank you. You’ve helped me feel less alone 🥺💚

We see such a small part of someone’s life on here. Someone can be posting about their business, looking after their family and smiling in a photo, while finding things really difficult.

So if you’re struggling too, please don’t feel you have to pretend with everyone. You deserve support, even if you can’t quite explain what’s wrong.

I’m hoping to find my feet again. For now, I’m taking it a day at a time.

Lots of love,
Donna xx

🧵💕 MEET THE MAKER

It’s time to introduce another one of the lovely small businesses that make up our little shop in Castleford! 🥰

Today we’re saying hello to Janet, who has a shelf full of her handmade creations here at Forever After! ✨

🪡 A little hello from Janet…

“Hi, my name is Janet!

I absolutely love spending my spare time sewing. It’s something I really enjoy doing for pleasure, and I love creating all sorts of lovely, practical things.

You’ll find a selection of my handmade goodies on my shelf at Forever After, including bottle holders, bookmarks, glasses cases, cord wraps and even soup bowl cosies!

I hope you’ll pop into the shop, have a little look at my creations and let me know what you think.

Thank you for supporting handmade! 💕
Janet x”

One of the things I love most about our collective is that it’s full of people who genuinely enjoy what they create. Not everything needs to be mass-produced or made in a factory. Sometimes it’s just someone with a sewing machine, a little creativity and a love for making things. 🥹💕

Next time you’re in Castleford, pop into Forever After and have a nosey at Janet’s shelf!

And remember, when you shop with us, you’re supporting real people and their passions. 💗
