The use of essential oils goes back thousands of years, with the ancient Egyptians particularly fond of using them to treat various symptoms, perfume their bodies, aid relaxation and assist sleep. Records dating back to 4500BC describe the
use of scented barks, resins, spices, and perfumed oils, they were used in medicinal ways as much as their ability to perfume. My name is Helen Addison and this is the story of how Buddles began. I started nursing in 1979, trained as a midwife in 1986 and completed a Diploma in Holistic Aromatherapy in 2000, with additional study of oils suitable for pregnancy and birth. During my thirty-five year midwifery career I set up and ran an NHS Maternity Aromatherapy Service for over ten years, which had a 99% satisfaction rating. In addition, for many years I have been providing holistic massage and making individualised aromatherapy products for clients, prior to starting production of the Buddles maternity packs. I created Buddles to provide specific blended aromatherapy products to be used throughout a mother's journey from pregnancy to parenthood. My aim is to use the finest ingredients to produce quality, unique blends at competitive prices. The four products in each of the three packs are a mix of massage oils, mist sprays, body wash blends, aloe vera gels, ointments and creams. The essential oils are carefully chosen to assist pre-birth preparations and to ease specific problems, whether for pregnancy, birth or the postnatal period.
