Sustainable church flowers is a hot topic since the C of E Synod encouraged all parishes to step away from floral foam and towards locally grown flowers. As part of our village open gardens event today I thought a sustainable church flowers demo might be a useful contribution. And then I thought I’d film the process for you all too. The Club version with exclusive extras is up now - and the version for those who prefer the ‘tube is loading sloooowwwly (sorry - internet struggling this eve). I’ll put links to both in stories. Georgie is back from Chelsea and we are now looking ahead to June, when she will be teaching a series of sustainable floristry demos online.

Over two days (2nd and 3rd June), you can learn everything from floral tablescaping and big urn arrangements to flower crowns, mossed wreaths, and stunning flying arches. Sessions are £45 each and last 90 minutes (Substack paid subscribers get 10% off).

If you can’t make any of the sessions you’d like to do live, they are all recorded and sent out afterwards so you can learn at your own pace, wherever you are in the world.

Beautiful bouquet for lovely couple married at the Temple of Apollo at this weekend. I came back from the stand at Chelsea Flower Show to cut and create for this lovely couple reminding myself in the process that I do love this part of the job: the early mornings in the field, harvesting especially for a specific order, creating for a couple who are so enthusiastic when they collect their flowers. There are many different kinds of flower farmers, not at all one business model to fit all. If you grew flowers for sale what kind of flower farmer would you be?
