What’s this? You’ll need to get closer (swipe) to find out… 👀

OKAY WE CAN’T WAIT TO TELL YOU!! It’s very nearly our business birthday~! 🎉

Next week we will be celebrating our 3rd Year Anniversary and to share our happiness and gratitude with you all we will once again be hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning/Studio Open Day to raise money for the incredible Macmillan Cancer Support!

More details will be coming very soon but for now you need to SAVE THE DATE: Sunday September 27th! (11:00-16:00)

Make sure you write it in your diary and set lots of reminders now unless you want to miss out on an amazing day of mini ceramics (charity auction!), free pottery tasters (including mini throwing challenges and mini make a mug!), delicious homemade cakes & bakes, tea & coffee and a fun day of socializing with our wonderful community!

We’re so excited to kick off our ✨NEW✨ Level-Up Hand-Building course tomorrow evening~!

This is an example of one of the pieces our potters will be making (in their own design of course - though we can’t blame if anyone is tempted to make their own fat tiger!) - this piece focuses on more advanced ways of harnessing a foundational pottery technique: pinch pot!

We resisted for the summer BUT it’s finally time~! 🍂

Our seasonal pottery classes will be going LIVE for booking this Sunday at 7PM (19:00) as a nice treat to celebrate the end of the first week of September!

Let’s have a look at what will released for booking…

🍁 Witch’s Potion Class
Saturday October 3rd (10:00-12:30)
-> Create your own unique Potion Bottle Bud Vase to decorate with coloured slips and sgraffito!

🎃 Pinch-Pot Pumpkins
Saturday October 3rd (13:30-16:00)
-> Create a pumpkin Tealight to decorate your home this Halloween using pinch-pot and clay carving!

⏰ Daylight Clock Class
Saturday October 24th (9:30-12:30)
-> Turn a ball of clay into a fully functioning clock using slabs, moulds, 3-D shapes and underglaze paints!

🏠 Winter Tealight Class
Saturday November 7th (14:00-16:30)
-> Use pre-prepared hard-slab clay, templates and cutters to create your own little Tealight house!

🐦‍⬛ Bird Sculpture One-Day Workshop
Saturday November 14th (10:00-16:00)
-> Join resident potter for a full-day hand-building workshop where you will sculpt your own life-life bird!

What’s this? Another amazing masterclass with the lovely Qian Liu? Yes indeed!

This November Qian Liu will be joining for us for her second masterclass - Stoneware Repetition Throwing! If you have ever wanted to throw matching sets of pots (whether it’s mugs, bowls or other forms!) then this weekend course is for you!

Through 1-2-1 tuition Qian will teach you the processes and techniques required for batch throwing - focusing on open and closed forms while considering the best weight, shapes and tools for repetition!

Date: November 21st & 22nd, Saturday & Sunday
(10:00-16:00 each day!)
All materials and tools provided!

Qian’s Masterclasses (including Repetition Throwing & Improve your Throwing) are both now LIVE for booking through our website!

We were going to put music to this glazing process reel then thought you all might like to hear the ‘sounds of the studio’! A little , some and lots of laughter from our independent potters - don’t say we don’t ever treat you!

This lovely vase is a prototype/example of the type of work that we will be making on our 8-Week ‘Level-Up’ Hand-Building course starting this September! (There are still a couple of spaces left if you would like to join us~!)

We will be revealing the final (post-kiln fired) result of this vase tomorrow so be sure to stick around~!

⭐️ Masterclass: Improve your Throwing with Qian Liu

Date: October 3rd & 4th, Saturday & Sunday, 10:00-16:00 each day!

If you are confident in the basics of throwing and are looking to ‘level-up’ your practice then this weekend course is for you! With the help and guidance of professional potter (and recent Royal College of Art graduate!) Qian Liu (Qian Liu) you will get tailored 1-2-1 advice that will bring significant improvement to your throwing!

Over the weekend you will focus on throwing open and closed forms as well as learning how to throw larger volumes of work. On day two you will get great tips for turning your work and adding finishing touches to your pieces!

This incredible masterclass is now LIVE for booking on our website (link in bio!) - like our other masterclasses (with visiting professional potters!) this course is unlikely to be repeated so be sure to book on if you don’t want to miss out!

Why is pottery so addictive?

⭐️ It’s accessible for everyone - even if you don’t think you’re ‘creative’!
⭐️ It’s a tactile medium that requires all of your attention - no time for outside thoughts or screens!
⭐️ It brings people together - in a matter of minutes complete strangers can be laughing together!

We are so incredibly proud to be the not-for-profit studio that provides these creative experiences for you all!

Whether it’s your first time on the wheel or making your own one-of-a-kind mug, our beginner pottery taster classes are perfect everyone~! We have lots classes available to book for this upcoming Autumn all the way through until Christmas (sorry for saying the ‘C’ word! 😬)

Did you know that dust causes glaze imperfections? It’s a common mistake that is also super easy to avoid!

If you have a bisque-fired piece that has been sitting around (especially in a dusty environment like a studio!) just give it a rinse to get rid of lingering dust! (This is especially important if you sand your bisque-ware!)

It’s also super satisfying to see the ‘true colours’ of your underglaze or slip before firing~! 👀

This lovely piece is one of the prototypes for our upcoming 8-Week ‘Level-up’ Hand-Building Course where we will be exploring more advanced slab building!

Come along for one of our most satisfying studio jobs~! ✨

In every class we’re asked what happens to the clay that doesn’t become a pot - our answer is always the same: nothing is wasted!

Even the clay on these throwing batts (left after removing customers pottery) is soaked back down and added to the reclaim! From there is it…

Soaked to break down ➡️ Slopped Out onto Plaster Batts ➡️ Put into the Pugmill!

Once the pugmill has churned and compressed the clay it is ready to be used again! (And more often than not, an even nicer consistency than the new bags of clay!)
