How are we halfway through the flower season already?
You see the finished bouquet, but not everything that goes into making sure there are fresh, seasonal flowers available from March right through to October.
While I’m harvesting this week’s flowers, I’m also sowing and planning for next year’s season. Some of the flowers I’ll be cutting in spring 2027 have already been sown. Others are still being planned, with seed orders, crop plans and bed rotations already underway.
At the same time there’s the constant watering (god damn you heatwave) weeding, feeding, staking, succession sowing, planting, harvesting and conditioning, every week bringing something new into flower while something else finishes.
It’s a constant cycle, and one of the things I love most about growing flowers. The garden is always moving forward, always changing with the seasons.
Thank you to everyone who chooses locally grown flowers and supports Little Devon Flower Garden. Every bouquet really does represent months of care before it ever reaches your hands. It’s a year round love affair 🤍
