Quilts! I love them. I love making them. I love how cosy they are. I love how much everyone reacts when they see their makes.

They are incredibly tricky to take a decent photo of and I don’t take a picture everytime.

They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. So you can have any size you would like. A great way to show off all those beautiful items of clothing that you have saved for precious reasons.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨New Product Alert 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

Always out looking for new ideas and a friend came to me with one. Turns out I had a load of her not so tiny babies bits whilst I wait for her to decide what she’d like to make with it. What’s even better is it’s her birthday next week.
So an early birthday present for a bestie and a new product for me.

What do we think…..

Using a babies item of clothing that they have grown out of. And turn it into a beautiful sweater for mama.

Perfect for a Christmas gift.

🧵💜🧵 Patchwork Quilts 🧵💜🧵

Quilts come in all shapes and sizes, whether it be a small keepsake such as a pram blanket or a large double bed sized quilt or anything in between. Stitching your memories together to turn into a lasting keepsake is the goal.

They are incredibly difficult to take a good photo of that’s for sure!

All my quilts are made using your special memories on the front, then in the middle is a cotton wadding before being backed in your choice of either fleece or cotton, then finally I hand sew the edging to match.

These are really popular especially at Christmas. They can be made from a single item or lots of items. Whether that be clothes or a scarf or even ties.

Something to remember someone by, a perfect gift to a grandparent of your little one’s first clothes or a keepsake for you to treasure from a great day or years of training. A cushion is a great way to keep a memories alive.

🦁🐶🐶🦁What animal would you choose? 🐸🧜‍♀️🧜‍♀️🐸

The most popular item I am asked to make is a bear.

And over the years I have made loads of them and I really do love making them. I love the smiles on people’s face when they receive them and tell me how much they love them.

Sometimes I am asked to make different animals.
So far I have made for people a
🐸, 🧜‍♀️, 🦁, 🐶, 🐰, 🐘
Plus a smaller bear.

I love the challenge of making a new animal and adding them to my collection.

How did Sewing Shed Chester come about?

Over 5 years ago, I asked a friend what did she want for her babies first birthday. And she said have you heard of a keepsake bear? At this point I had not.

Up until this point I had never sewn anything like a bear. I had only been making ice skating dresses. Mainly to keep the costs down for my daughter who was getting into competitive skating.

I said to her, don’t give me your favourite pieces incase I can’t do it. And I ruin their clothes. Handily it worked and I made them phew 😊

It is a big ask and fills me with anxieties at times when I have other people precious clothes and memories to turn into a keepsake.

But here they are the first two memory bears I ever made. One bear and one rabbit. And from these two there have been hundreds - I don’t have photos of them all. But my photos definitely got better over time.

This is how Sewing Shed Chester started. And from working off the dining room table, to the box room upstairs. I now have a wonderful custom built shed in the garden bursting with all my sewing and craft things.

It turns out I haven’t posted in a really long time. And there is a pretty good reason why. Well I think there is.

At the beginning of this year my main job required a lot more of my attention and in turn hours. Then when that all balanced back out I had to focus on making 100’s of paper flowers and I mean 100’s. I also made seating plans and place settings and table settings all for my big day.

I got MARRIED, at an amazing venue abroad and had a truly wonderful time with friends and family.

I am back the shed is back and I my books are filling up quick for Christmas orders. So if you had a Christmas gift in mind get in touch quickly.

Will be posting over the next few days all the items I make.
