Our Flower Shed is filled with freshly picked, seasonal flowers, all lovingly grown by us without chemicals and always with nature in mind.

I wonā€™t lie... this heatwave has been hard.

As a flower grower, so much of my energy has gone into simply keeping the flowers alive. Our IBC water supply leaked early on in the season, so weā€™ve been loading containers into the car and carrying water up to the flower field. Itā€™s exhausting!

On our dog walks, weā€™ve seen the other side of the heat too. Dead bees, dead birds and this tiny mouse sitting in the middle of the path, too tired to move. We gently carried it into the grass and offered it a few blackberries. He tucked into them straight away before wandering off into the undergrowth. Hopefully he just needed a little rest and a chance to recover.

It made me realise that while Iā€™m working so hard to keep the flowers alive, theyā€™re not just for me or for bouquets. Theyā€™re food for pollinators, shelter for insects and wildlife and part of a much bigger picture.

Flower farming can feel relentless in weather like this, but moments like this remind me why itā€™s worth it.

Hereā€™s hoping for rain, for the flowers, for the wildlife, and for everyone trying to grow something this summer.
