Play, Inspire and Ignite Imaginations is a key value here

Through play children are inspired and that inspiration is what can ignite their Imaginations. Play fuels their curiosity, to ask questions, to experiment, to challenge and push boundaries (theirs & sometimes yours).

Play gives children the opportunity to rehearse, repeat and refine their growing skills.

Props for play can range from a cardboard box, a kitchen pot or a doll, a dinosaur, story dice, a magnifying glass and so much more.

However the most important thing about play is that children are having fun! 🐶💙

We love books here

Just as well with this brilliant delivery from our friends at the House of Marbles.

There are many ways to help children develop a love for books. It doesn't matter if it's a story book, a finger puppet book, a lift the flap book, a sound book or a sticker book full of their favourite characters.

They will be turning pages, enjoying the activities, listening for sounds, discovering facts, loving pictures and perhaps even snuggled in, as a much loved person shares a story.

Sir David Attenborough has taught us to care more about the world we live in and how even small changes can make a difference to the footprints we leave on it.

we try to contribute to that difference through offering a beautiful range of toys, puzzles, games, craft activities and a whole lot more, that are sustainably made or have fair trade credentials.

Sir David's knowledge and love of the natural world clearly shines through in all that he does. He has inspired generations of children and adults alike.

We are closed on Monday 27 April
Until
Saturday 2 May, re-opening at 10.00 with the lovely Vanessa being in charge on that day 😊.

Please note we are also closed Bank Holiday Monday 4 May and apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Everything is back to normal on Tuesday 5 May and we will look forward to seeing then 🐶💙

Are you ready for Butterfly Season 🦋

Available here the Accredited STEAM Toy, Butterfly Garden from the amazing Insect Lore

After redeeming the enclosed voucher in the Butterfly Garden (for a small post & packaging fee) 3 - 5 baby caterpillars and their nutritious food will arrive by post.

Children should be enthralled to watch the caterpillars grow from arrival, up to 10 times their size.

And then fascinated as they hang upside down to form chrysalides.

From which the beautiful Painted Lady Butterflies will emerge. Enjoy feeding them for a short while longer before setting them free 🦋

Happy 9th Birthday
🎉🐶💙🎉

Golly was it really 9 years ago that Salty Dog Emporium opened its doors for the very first time.

I can remember feeling soooooooo nervous. Was it the right thing to do, would anyone come through the door, would people like the products I had so carefully selected and of course would anyone buy anything?

Thankfully the answer to all my questions was "Yes! Yes! Yes!"

I'm so grateful to all my lovely customers for all the support and encouragement over the years. And some of you have been with me from the very start!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, it truly means the world to me ❤️

Thank you too, to family and friends and especially to Vanessa for covering so wonderfully. And of course to my fabulous hubby Steve aka 'The Saturday Boy', who does so much for me, our family and Salty Dog Emporium. I love you very much ❤️
