It's time to give a few colonies more space. The season is beginning. When I've finished feeding i leave the container empty on the hive. This gives me a good clue later on as to when they need space because they will start drawing comb up into the container and storing nectar.

Today I was out giving my bees pollen substitute. It's basically a high protein feed. At this time of year there is vert little pollen available but they need protein to feed larvae. So giving them some will encourage then to build up strong ready for the spring nectar flow.

Several of the colonies are already very strong .
