A Little Reminder About Shopping Small ❤️

Yesterday, one of our lovely young members of staff spent time carefully fitting a customer’s daughter with ballet shoes, ensuring the correct size and fit for her dancing needs.

When the price was given, the customer commented on the “mark-up,” took the shoes, photographed them, and stated that she would buy them online instead.

Of course, everyone is free to shop where they choose. However, what is often overlooked is that independent dance shops provide a service that online retailers simply cannot.

We offer expert fitting, advice, product knowledge, and the reassurance that your dancer is wearing the correct shoes. We maintain stock, pay rent, utilities, insurance, wages, and all the other costs that come with running a local business. Those costs are reflected in our prices, just as they are in any specialist shop.

What upset us most was not the decision to shop elsewhere, but the manner in which our staff were treated. Our team work incredibly hard and deserve to be spoken to with kindness and respect.

We are proud to be a small independent business serving our dance community, and we are grateful to the many customers who choose to support us and value the service we provide.
