Being a balloon artist isn’t just about knowing how to make something. It’s learning how to see it. 👀

Where does the design need more weight?
Where does it need less?

Does it need another colour, another texture… or actually nothing at all?

I’ve worked with balloons for nearly 17 years and I still stand back, look at a design and change things as I go.

Because sometimes the biggest difference between “that looks nice” and “WOW” is one tiny detail.

That’s something I love passing on when I teach. Not simply how to recreate one particular design, but the skills and confidence to look at your own work and know what it needs and how to fix it to be what you need.

Because once you understand the why and how, you can create so much more than the thing you were originally taught. 🎈

This weekend was all about SUE FEST, created especially to celebrate Sue’s big 5 0 in style with Kalisan’s flame orange, magenta pink and mirror gold.

We absolutely loved bringing this one together and helping make such a special birthday even more memorable.

I hear so much at the moment about how difficult it is to get the work. Too many people doing the same thing. Too much undercutting. Customers not spending like they used to.

And maybe that’s all true.

But business has never stood still.

It’s easy to stick with what you’re comfortable with. What you’re known for. What you’ve always been good at. But if one avenue isn’t working like it used to, why keep walking down the same road and hoping something changes? Something picks up or that new custom will come just because your company exists?

Try something different. Learn something new. Look for another customer. Another market. Another opportunity. Review your target audience. Shift your mindset.

You never know what’s around the corner.

Sometimes business isn’t about giving up or carrying on.
