Hi! I know I’ve just disappeared completely off here at the moment and this little guy is why! I am fully enjoying my maternity leave and just soaking up this newborn stage as I know it goes so quickly 💙

I will be back at some point I promise. I’m thinking about my Christmas plans/products in between all the feeds and cuddles! 🥰

So I’ve been keeping a little secret from you! We are expanding our team 🥰 baby number 2 is due end of August!

I obviously had to make a baby scan photo frame and a little extra something. Any excuse to get creative!

I’m planning on working till the end of July and then I’ll see how I’m getting on. If you were thinking of ordering anything I’d do it sooner rather than later 😊

I really struggled deciding which is my favourite product for todays meet the maker.

I ended up choosing my baby scan photo frames for a few reasons. I remember the excitement we had at our first scan for Oliver. Coming home with our pictures and wanting to show them off to everyone. It felt sort of sad to put it back away in my folder.

When I get an order through for one of these photo frames I think of how excited the parents must be. It just puts a smile on my face to know their scan is going to be on display whilst they wait for their little bundle to arrive 🥰

Planning!

For me planning is all about lists, lists and more lists! I’d be lost without them! My husband takes the mickey out of how many different notebooks and lists I have going on at one time!

I’ve even created a product so I can plan our meals and create another list! My sister in law came round the other day and asked me to make one for her. So I’m considering offering this as a new product. What do you think?

Day 2- Brand Values

Design - Design is where my passion lies. It is my escapism. I want to design products that people will cherish. Products that put a smile on peoples faces when they receive them. Heartfelt, honest, beautiful designs are what I strive for.

Quality – Each product is made of top quality materials. I don’t cut corners. All my wood is masked pre-lasering to ensure clean cuts and engraves. I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my products and nothing leaves me unless I’m 100% happy with it.

Sustainability – My wood is sustainably sourced FSC accredited I try and use eco-friendly packaging where possible. I’m currently looking for an eco-friendly tape supplier if anyone has any recommendations? I think it’s every businesses responsibility to try to limit the impact they are having on the planet.

Affordability - I want my products to be enjoyed by as many people as possible. Unfortunately the laser cutting market is getting saturated with poor quality products. I aim to price my products affordably in relation to the quality they are and not under sell them.

So its month and I thought I would have a go at taking part for the first time! I am a day late already so not the best start 🤦🏻‍♀️

So Hi! I’m Mel the lady behind The Laser Fox. I set my business up almost 4 years ago when I purchased my first laser cutter.

I studied Product Design at university and my last job before going on maternity leave was as an interior designer. I had my little boy at the beginning of 2020 just before we went into the first lockdown. At the start of 2021 I decided not to return to work and to build up The Laser Fox alongside looking after Oliver.

I am originally from Yorkshire but now live over in Lancashire with my husband Adam, son Oliver and fluffy cat Leo. Leo likes to get involved in photoshoots!

I am a one man band so I design and make everything myself. Packaging orders, photography, social media (I’m not great at this bit), accounts etc is all me. Most of my products start as things I want for myself or gifts for family and friends. If I had my way I would just spend all day designing and making!

Anyway that’s probably enough for day 1! If you made it this far well done! 😂
