๐ WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY ๐
Today is a reminder that sometimes the biggest battles are the ones nobody else can see. โค๏ธ
We live in such a busy world. Constantly juggling work, family, relationships, responsibilities and everything else life throws at us. Sometimes we're so busy looking after everyone else that we forget to look after ourselves.
And the truth is, you never really know what someone is going through behind closed doors.
Social media is a perfect example of this. We see the happy photos, the smiling faces, the achievements, the holidays and the picture-perfect moments. But what we don't always see are the tears, the sleepless nights, the anxiety, the worries and the days when simply getting through the day feels like an achievement.
Social media is a highlight reel, not the whole story.
I've experienced my own struggles with anxiety, and if there's one thing it's taught me, it's that mental health doesn't discriminate.
You can have a happy life, a beautiful family, a business or job you love and so much to be grateful for, yet still have days when everything feels completely overwhelming.
And that doesn't make you weak or ungrateful. It makes you human. โค๏ธ
Sometimes it's the people who are always smiling, laughing, keeping busy, showing up for everyone else and saying "I'm fine" who are quietly struggling themselves.
We put so much pressure on ourselves to keep going, to be strong, to have everything together and to never drop a ball.
But the reality is, nobody has it all together all of the time.
And that's okay.
๐ It's okay to have bad days.
๐ It's okay to feel overwhelmed.
๐ It's okay to cry without knowing why.
๐ It's okay to ask for help.
๐ It's okay to take a step back.
๐ And it's absolutely okay to not be okay.
One thing I've learnt is that a little kindness can go such a long way.
That person who seems a little quieter than usual, the friend who hasn't been in touch, the mum who's juggling a million things, the person who always seems to have a smile on their face... you never really know what's going on in someone's world.
So check in on your friends, your family, your colleagues and even the people who always seem to be doing just fine.
And please, don't forget to check in on yourself too.
Life isn't always sunshine and rainbows, no matter how perfect it might look from the outside.
We're all human. We all have our struggles, our worries and our own battles to face.
You matter. Your feelings matter. And you never have to struggle in silence.
So today, and every day, let's be a little kinder, a little more patient and a little more understanding of one another.
Because behind every smile is a story we might know nothing about. ๐
And if nobody has told you lately, you're doing better than you think. ๐ซถ
