The first week of being a family of four… 🤍

What a whirlwind it’s been.

Meet Xavier. 💙

He’s been with us for just a few days, and somehow it already feels like he’s always been here.

The biggest surprise has been Aurelia. I knew she’d love him, but I never imagined quite how much. Every time he wakes up, she asks (or more accurately… demands 😂) to hold him. She wants to help with every nappy change, every feed, every cuddle, and proudly tells everyone, “That’s my baby.”

It’s honestly melted my heart.

In between all of that, life hasn’t exactly slowed down.

I’ve already found myself back at the Post Office posting Muddy Boots orders (thank you so much for continuing to support my little business while we’re in this newborn bubble ❤️), grabbed a stolen half-hour with a croissant and an iced coffee thanks to my wonderful mother-in-law, and somehow we’re also about to start renovating our house… with the builders arriving tomorrow!

So if you’ve ever wondered what chaos looks like… it’s a Moses basket with a mattress that doesn’t quite fit, pink floral bedding from Aurelia because that’s what we had, a baby boy happily wearing his big sister’s hand-me-downs, clothing rails taking over what was supposed to be our gym, and a toddler who falls asleep halfway through dinner because loving a baby brother is exhausting work.

It’s messy.
It’s busy.
It’s definitely not glamorous.

But I wouldn’t change a second of it.

Here’s to this new chapter… and surviving renovations with a newborn. Wish us luck. 🤍

Pretty clothes are lovely… but can they survive toddler life? 🤍

One thing you’ll probably notice if you follow me…

I don’t ask Aurelia to “be careful” because she’s wearing something nice.

She climbs.

She runs.

She collects stones.

She chases Barney.

She sits on the floor.

She gets muddy.

Because that’s exactly what childhood should look like.

When I was choosing every piece for the Muddy Boots collection, I wasn’t looking for clothes that only look beautiful in photographs.

I wanted clothes that feel comfortable, wash well and let little ones simply be little.

Made for adventures.

The shop is closing, but Muddy Boots isn’t going anywhere 🤍

As I’ve shared recently, I’ll be closing the Muddy Boots physical shop over the next few months. With another baby on the way, life with Aurelia, a house move, and a move back to the London area, it felt like the right and realistic decision for this season.

What I really want you to know is that Muddy Boots clothing is continuing ✨
The clothing side of the business has grown into something really special, and I’ve loved building such a lovely community around it and offering exclusive pieces that so many of you come back for time and time again.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll also be running a closing down sale in-store — everything reduced, with a minimum of 25% off and up to 75% off on selected lines 🤍 A big thank you for all the love and support over the years.

A little shop update 🤍

This isn’t an easy post to write, but it feels like the right time to share.

Since becoming pregnant, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about what’s realistic for our family. It was already quite challenging at times running the shop alongside having a little one, and now with a second baby on the way and us moving back to London permanently over the next few months, I need to be honest with myself about what I can realistically juggle.

Because of that, I’m looking to close our pink shop.

This isn’t going to happen overnight, and nothing is changing immediately, I’ll make sure to keep you all updated as things evolve 🤍

This decision really comes down to family. As many of you know, I still run Muddy Boots alongside the shop, planning and creating big children’s parties all over the UK with the most amazing team, and that business isn’t going anywhere. I’ll also be continuing my clothing business online, but I’m exploring ways I can still have a couple of rails in a Clevedon shop, because I’ve built such a lovely local client base who enjoy seeing and feeling the clothing in person.

If I’m being completely honest, when I was pregnant with Aurelia I worried I might resent being a mum because I love my work…the challenge, the people, the creativity, all of it. But truth be told, being her mum has made me happier than I ever imagined. So now I’m trying to find that happy medium where I can have both.

I’ve absolutely loved having the shop, and the ladies I work with have truly become like family. I feel incredibly lucky to have shared this chapter with them and with all of you who have supported the shop so wholeheartedly.

Me asking Aurelia mid-morning (after she’d devoured a croissant 🥐) to stand still, hold onto some baby photos and say baby… clearly translated in her head as this is a perfect moment for a happy birthday song 😂 Kids will always be kids.

We’re actually 14 weeks already.
We meant to share earlier, but our 12-week scan didn’t quite go to plan and we were asked to wait for an appointment at the specialist fetal clinic. Thankfully it was only a week, but it felt very long and very heavy at the time. We’ve now had that appointment and everything is looking on track 🤍

It also explains why I was so quiet over Christmas and New Year. Truth be told, most days I was collapsed on the sofa at Harley’s auntie’s house feeling utterly exhausted and quite sick. Despite Harley’s mum and auntie being the most incredible cooks, there were days when all I could manage was plain toast or completely plain pasta 🙈
And that vile metallic taste in my mouth for weeks… pregnancy really is glamorous. Yes before you ask the flight there and back to NZ was NOT fun 😜

She hasn’t quite grasped that there’s a baby in mummy’s tummy yet… but she has noticed mummy’s tummy getting bigger and reminds me daily 😂

I won’t lie — not having my mum here for another baby is honestly heartbreaking, and I know I’m not alone in that. But I talk to her all the time, and she’s with us in so many ways 🤍

Our little family is growing, and we’re so grateful 🌱

Despite me bringing over 120 Balloons to blow up and even investing in an electric pump over here. Not a single Balloon got blown up 🤣🙈 (she refused to go down for a nap at the same time she has gone down for a nap everyday, but today the day I needed her to….NOPE)
But she didn’t realise and still had the best day ever. And yes that is me in a piglet outfit, this is what happens when you buy from Temu 🤣 I did actually make an absolute killer cake, the decoration could definitely be worked on, but it was a banana, raspberry and chocolate chip cake with a orange cream cheese frosting. All I’m saying is people went back for seconds 💪🏻
