Stamping some veins into oak leaf blanks using our 50kg Sahinler Power Hammer.

We prefer a protruding vein which requires a lot of force to move the material, into cut chisel lines of the tool, due to a large surface area under the dies.

A nice nature inspired design for this fire guard. Forged leaves entangling together with rams heads watching over.

Two new handrails that we made for St Paul’s church in Longridge. These are yet to have the wooden handrail tops fixed in place.

They had a nice forging at the base of the stem where we fluted the square bar. Forging under the power hammer with some 20mm round bar fullering dies.

For instillation it’s all about details. We didn’t want any plates with bolts at the bases so we’ve taken the carpet up, core drilled and resined the posts into the stone floor. Then cut the carpet round the posts for a clean joint.

We refurbished a wrought iron gate recently. As an added bonus for the client I used an off cut of the original material to forge them a little leaf keyring.

When you get used to forging steel all the time it’s a welcome moment when you get to switch to wrought iron! It’s surprising how different it feels under the hammer.

Always nice working at heritage properties.

We were called out to Gawthrope Hall, which was originally built in 1605, to fix a gate on the property. Not an original piece of work but still a nice back drop for the morning!

A recent security gate, this has a double sided combination lock and a self closing floor spring.

We’ve left this with the raw zinc finish after galvanising dulled off with a bit of mordant solution to give it some texture and take out the shine. This leaves a very durable and low maintenance finish.

Tapering and bending the hook of our St George’s dragon’s head wall hook.

We’ve just done a big batch of these along with our Highland Cows and Ron Carter Ram’s versions.

To match the two maple leaf gates we recently made for this client they wanted their originally front gate restoring and a bit of an ivy beach ‘growing’ up the middle of it.

Two maple leaf gates sectioning off this little courtyard.

We’ve finally got our Ironworker set up to punch square holes. Square bar punch past through always looks so satisfying!
