CLYDEBANK COMMUNITY FIREWORKS NIGHT
A LITTLE UPDATE... We wanted to give everyone a small update on our plans for a Community Charity Fireworks Night at Whitecrook Park.
We first reached out about the idea back in April, and since then there have been a lot of conversations behind the scenes. We're now in discussions with the relevant teams, and the support and guidance we've received around licensing has been really positive.
But nothing is being taken for granted. We still have a long way to go.
There are permissions, licensing, safety plans, local residents and many other things that all need to come together before a night like this can happen properly.
The idea has never changed. We want to create a brilliant family night for Clydebank while raising as much money as possible to support local children, families who are struggling and older people in our community through Christmas.
We know fireworks aren't everyone's cup of tea, and we completely respect that. That's why we're trying to do this properly, listening to the people who live around the park, keeping disruption to a minimum and working with everyone involved.
There is one big thing we need everyone to help us with.
PLEASE DO NOT DOUBLE PARK OR BLOCK THE SURROUNDING STREETS.
This caused chaos previously. It isn't fair on the people who live there, and emergency services must have clear access at all times.
If we get the go-ahead, we will provide FREE designated parking away from the surrounding residential streets.
Please use it.
Keeping these roads clear will be an important part of making this work, and we need everyone attending to respect it.
We can't do this without support from residents, the council, local businesses, volunteers and the people of Clydebank.
We're not announcing an event yet. Either way, our usual fireworks display will still be fired from private land, fully insured and safely managed, as it has been previously. What this permission changes is everything around it. Instead of families simply gathering in the park to watch the fireworks from a distance, it gives us the opportunity to properly organise the night with controlled numbers, stewards, first aid, toilets, children’s rides, food vendors, entertainment and proper safety measures. Most importantly, it allows us to turn a fireworks display that is already happening into a properly managed community event that can raise a substantial amount of money to support children, families and older people across Clydebank through Christmas.
Discussions are progressing, we're getting good guidance and we're doing everything we can to make it possible.
There's still a long way to go, but if everyone works together, we genuinely believe we can create something Clydebank can be proud of while making Christmas a little better for people in our own town who need it most. ❤️
