NO FURNITURE TODAY. JUST FLOORBOARDS.

I love wood. I love original. So it seems that as part of our glacial (speed) house renovation, we are just going to have to commit to the tough sanding job. By regular standards, this isn't our first rodeo, but, unfortunately, as my mother lives downstairs, we have to sound insulate under the boards. Yes... that does mean taking up and relaying all the boards.... I know it will be amazing but just four boards in, and the task seems overwhelming. Time for a cup of tea, methinks!!

This stunning antique Gangaur idol figurine is hand-carved from teak wood with intricate details. Originating from the Banswara district in Rajasthan, India, this piece showcases the distinct style of the Bhil ethnic group. These dolls are given to young women during the Gangaur festival to bless them with marital happiness. This antique treasure is a rare piece. Its beautiful, aged patina speaks elegance and authenticity. We can be sure of the exact age, but we believe it to date from the late 19th century.

This is a really special, rare piece! It is an antique-style bookcase table that was clearly made for this exact Encyclopedia Britannica; it is a perfect fit! The solid mahogany piece has been stripped and refinished to maintain its durability but without losing too much of its former life. The books, which are included with the table, are charmingly old; they take up just half of the space under the table top and has a similarly-sized space open for other books (or drinks??) on the opposite side. It is hard to give more details as we haven't found any similar examples. We can say that the Encyclopedia is 14th edition and was published in 1929.

Mainland delivery included with a man and a van.

Books are included, but the other items are not. Sorry!

If I could find the right place in my overstuffed home, this cabinet would not be going up on our page. This large antique pine cabinet has been lightly sanded and waxed to bring out its natural beauty without getting rid of its spots and stripes, so to speak. The colour of the wood is just amazing, so warm, and the feel is soft and natural. There are signs of old woodworm (treated) and lifting of some veneer near the base (photographed). The bottoms of the drawers are showing their age, but we didn't want to make it 'like new', so we left it as is. The inside of the cupboard has a blue wash from one of its previous owners, and a few interior hooks have been installed on the inside. (The key is not included as it doesn't belong to this cabinet.)

Needless to say, I love it. It would be a beautiful yet functional feature in any room. A true piece.
