I took a sabbatical from glass… and ended up doing stand-up at the Edinburgh Fringe. 🎤✨
It started when Jody Shield and Hayley_Su Buchanan suggested I try stand-up to help clear some energetic blockages.
Because apparently nothing says nervous system regulation like standing under a spotlight waiting for strangers to laugh. 😂
First came a week with Angel Comedy, my baptism of fire into the comedy world. Then Funny Women, where comedy became much more than learning to be funny.
It became a way to stretch my nervous system, build confidence, face my fear of being visible, challenge imposter syndrome and, most importantly, learn not to abandon myself when I feel uncomfortable or imperfect.
At Edinburgh, my mind went blank for a moment. I made a joke, checked my notes and carried on.
And I’m beginning to realise that this journey was never really about becoming fearless or delivering everything perfectly.
And that may have been the biggest lesson of all.
It was about learning to stay with myself while being seen.
From fused glass to Funny Women, this sabbatical has taken me somewhere I never expected.
Turns out clearing a blockage doesn’t always involve a crystal and being spiritual isn't always about astrology or Reiki.
Sometimes it involves a microphone. 🎤🔥
