MAKERS Book of the Week....

*Story Summary*  

Errol and Edwina is a delightful story about two elephants having fun together. They play in a green pool, splash each other, eat fruit, and scratch themselves against a big tree. The story also shows real elephant behaviours, such as sleeping while standing up!  

This book tells a meaningful story about family, friendship, and life.  

*What Makes This Book Great*  

Illustrations: The artwork is bold, bright, vibrant, and expressive. The text is placed in an easy-to-read spot so children can enjoy the large pages and pictures at the same time.  

Pacing & Structure: The story moves quickly enough to hold a young child's attention and has a clear beginning, middle, and end.  

Learning & Vocabulary: It includes fun, challenging new words for young children to learn, as well as interesting facts about how elephants live.  

Emotional Depth: It balances happiness and playfulness with a gentle lesson about sadness and loss.  

*Recommendation*  

This is a fantastic read-aloud book that children will want to enjoy over and over again. Because of the sad themes near the end, it is best read with adult supervision!

It's the OPEN DAY this weekend SUNDAY 23rd August 🤩

And your local MAKERS shop is OPEN!!
There are stalls and pop ups, all kinds of games and workshops....

Looking for something to do at the end of the summer holidays??

Pop over to the LEICESTER TALES exhibition is on till the end of the week....

Come check out Richard lll's bones by the I CAN create group (with a huge thank you Rachel from for coming to the opening!)

There is something to explore for all ages, whether it be having a go at drawing charnia and colouring in with thanks to , reading up about Palitoy and listening to local oral histories with thanks to Coalville Heritage Society....there are books and art for sale too!!

The last day of the exhibition is the same day as the OPEN DAY this weekend SUNDAY 23rd AUG 11am-3pm.....see you there!!
