✨ First, make it exist. Then make it great. ✨

These are some of my very first sketches as I begin exploring children’s book illustration.

And honestly? They’re not perfect. Some things don’t quite work, some faces need tweaking, and there are definitely a few things I’ll change as I go.

But they exist. 🥹🤍

And that’s the important part.

Sometimes we spend so much time waiting until we’re ready, until we’re confident, until we know exactly what we’re doing, that we never actually begin.

So this is your little reminder today:

You don’t have to make it perfect.
You just have to make it exist.

Start messy. Start nervous. Start before you feel ready.

You can make it great later. 🌿✨

What’s something you’ve been putting off because you’re waiting to feel “ready”? Maybe today is the day you just start. 🤍

☁️Somewhere between the treetops and the stars, a little fennec fox found the perfect place to rest.

I fell completely in love with the beautiful fennec foxes at Colchester Zoo, and they inspired this tiny, dreamy character to make his way onto my paper. 🤍

There’s something rather magical about those enormous ears, tiny paws and impossibly sweet faces, so I couldn’t resist imagining one curled up on a fluffy little cloud.

Now I need your help… what should I create next? 👀

🌙 Should he discover a magical woodland?
⭐ Meet another little creature?
🍄 Find a secret enchanted garden?
☁️ Or simply keep floating amongst the clouds?

Tell me his story in the comments, I might just use your ideas to inspire the next painting.🤍

🐾🤍 HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY 🤍🐾

Today is to celebrate my favourites. 🐶

The muddy paws.
The ridiculous zoomies.
The little faces waiting at the window.
The cuddles when we’re sad.
The unwavering loyalty.
The way they somehow know when we need them most. 🥹

Dogs don’t just become part of our lives, they become part of who we are. And honestly, I don’t know what we ever did to deserve them. 🐶✨

So today I want to celebrate YOUR dog. ❤️

👇 Tell me your dog’s name in the comments!

Bonus points for a photo because, obviously, I need to see those beautiful faces! 😂🐾

Let’s fill the comments with as many wonderful dog names as we possibly can. 🌈

Happy National Dog Day to every dog, every dog lover, and every person whose heart has ever been completely stolen by four paws. 🤍

Tag someone whose dog deserves a little extra love today. 🐾✨

When Lexi died, I heard some truly surprising things.

Most of them weren’t said with bad intentions. In fact, many came from people trying their best to comfort me.

But pet loss can be a strange kind of grief. Society often understands the heartbreak of losing a person, yet many of us feel pressure to “move on” quickly when we lose a dog.

The truth is that our dogs are woven into the fabric of our daily lives.

They greet us every morning. ✨
They walk beside us through difficult seasons.🐾
They celebrate ordinary moments. ☀️
They become family. 💕

So when they’re gone, the silence can be deafening.

This post isn’t about calling anyone out.

It’s simply a gentle reminder that when someone loses a beloved pet, we don’t need the perfect words.

We don’t need to fix their grief.

We just need to acknowledge it.

“I’m so sorry.”

“Tell me about them.”

“They were lucky to be loved by you.”

Those simple words can mean the world.

If you’ve lost a dog and are carrying that grief today, this is your reminder that your heartbreak is valid, your love mattered, and your dog was never “just a dog.”

❤️ For Lexi.
