🎉 Happy 1 anniversary to my little bookshop 🎉

I cannot believe it's been 1 year since I decided to say yes to a beautiful box of books that has absolutely changed my life.

I was on maternity leave with my little bub at 4 months and my eldest was 2 years old. Life couldn't have been more hectic. But I saw an opportunity of becoming an Usborne partner and I was instantly intrigued. Me and my husband joined the discovery call and I knew this was something I definitely wanted to be a part of. An opportunity to spread more books to my community and build my boys bookshelves at the same time.

I've always enjoyed reading and yes I've also gone through a period of time where I fell out of love with it, I didn't have enough time, I couldn't find a book that gripped me. But since having my boys and surrounding them with books truly lit a spark inside my heart. Seeing them explore books, grow their vocabulary and understanding and seeing their eyes light up and the giggles they've shared from reading books will always be one of my core memories.

I have met some absolutely amazing people from starting my book business and I have formed long lasting friendships. A huge thank you to everyone who has liked, shared, commented or bought/sponsored books and for being part of this journey. Your generosity has allowed me grow something I'm so passionate about and made so many children excited about books again!

An advent calendar... But for Halloween 🎃🦇👻

This week's book of the week HAD to be this fangtastic Halloween advent calendar!

I absolutely love this idea! Instead of waiting until 31st October, children can have a little something to look forward to each day as they count down to Halloween.

Inside are a mixture of 13 story and activity books. So there is a there's a mixture of reading, colouring and activities to keep little ones entertained.

It's such a lovely way to build that Halloween excitement and make the run up to Halloween feel a little bit more spookier 👻

"Oh hey, you’re the book lady!” 📚

I was out with my family when a parent who'd bought books from me at one of my pop-ups spotted me.

“Oh hey, you’re the book lady!”

And honestly?

I loved it. 🥹

Not because I want to be the person who sells books.

But because it made me realise that I’m becoming known in my community for something I genuinely love.

For bringing books to families.
For helping parents find books their children will enjoy.
For popping up at local events and making books a little easier to discover.

And if “the book lady” is what people call me now…

I’m very happy with that. ❤️📚

Because building something around books, while bringing more of them into the hands of local families, is something I’m really proud of.

🚨 September New Releases 🚨

I can't quite believe we're coming to this time of year. Honestly where has the year gone!?
Yet again another month with some AMAZING new releases that I'm sure will become an absolute favourite in many households.

If you’ve got a newly independent reader at home, Billy and the Mini Monsters is one to add to your reading pile

The heavily illustrated pages make it feel much less daunting for children who are finding their feet with reading independently.

There’s plenty to look at alongside the words, which can help keep them engaged while they build confidence and enjoy reading for themselves. With lots of fun titles, it's sure to be a favourite!

🍿 🎬 Our first cinema trip 🎬🍿

A few weeks ago we took our eldest to the cinema for the first time and we absolutely loved it! We obviously had to go and see the new Paw Patrol movie because my little one is Paw Patrol crazy 😂

It was such a special moment and it felt so nice to have had the chance to have some one on one time with my eldest 🫶

The best bit was we didn't have to think twice about taking him because my little book business paid for it - this special moment. Honestly that has to be one of the many things that I love about my business. It's flexible, it works around me and my family and it means we don't have to think twice about how we are going to pay for days out, treats, or special moments. It's the little memories that we will always cherish and I feel so proud that by doing something I love, sharing books, allows me to treat my family and my boys 💙
