A little bit about us...

Well... you all know that we started off as a traditional sweetie shop. Wey... a rolling stone gathers no moss and all that m’larky. We have evolved and whilst I have to say I loved our little sweetie shop I’m absolutely 100% head over heels in love with how our little emporium is evolving. In the beginning it was a toss up between the sweeties and the fruit and veg but always the plan to incorporate the other eventually (and I mean way, way away eventually... but you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men) and our eventually was COVID-19. This horrible virus has thrown everyone for a loop and for us that meant we were going to have to adapt and improvise or shut the door and not know if the door would open again, and we weren’t having that.

So we bought a few veggies to start with. Then a few more. Then we added some fruit. Not a lot but enough to provide Coldstream’s lovely locals with some bits and bobs to make for their tea, whether it’s a baked tatty or some delicious variety of soup. Then came the eggs from Border Eggs swiftly followed by the flours and the yeast because you couldn’t any of them for toffee (like how I brought a sweetie quote in there?...) You’re all bringing in your tubs, take away boxes, Tupperware from the 60’s for your flour and yeast and I’m noticing a lot of bags, and I don’t mean plastic bags, being brought in to carry your fruit and veg home and I love this! It not only helps us keep our costs down for you all but it is also helping reduce wastage and taking our little shop back to the good old days where you didn’t waste anything and it is the direction we want our little shop to go in.

We are continuing to evolve, we are continuing to adapt and I’m very happy to say that we’re going to keep the two running once all of this virus horridness is over. We have two deliveries of fruit and veg a week so that we can keep turnover high and have just enough to keep us going before the next delivery. This way we can keep it all superdooper fresh and lovely for you all. Every week we add a little bit more and every week you amaze us with your support and enthusiasm and requests to continue what we’re doing once the virus has gone.

You lovely lot out there in the land of Coldstream and surrounding areas (because we are delivering far and wide) are troopers and whilst I know the motto “Nulli Secundus” applies to the Coldstream Guards - you splendiferous people are also Second to None and whilst this does not surprise us - I thank you x
