Our regular sewing classes include short weekend half day sewing classes and sewing courses with weekly sewing classes at 3 different skill levels.

How does it work?

Book your place - decide what you want to do and either bring it with you or purchase while you're here...and we'll put the kettle on.

Calling all unfinished sewing symphonies, those still using your sewing stabilisers and those who just fancy a days sewing and company.

Stories and knowledge shared, seasoned with lots of laughter.

On a Thursday, I'm usually teaching in Belfast, but that's finished for the summer, so I'm having a me-day, cutting myself some new trousers from our own Level 2 pattern.

Reminded me, I should remind you that our lovely relaxed day of social sewing is this Saturday 13th June !!

Our Pattern Cutting Courses have begun!

The sustainable way to make garments that fit you every time.

🙄🤦 FORGET adjusting EVERY pattern you buy!🤦 🙄

We do things differently (and kinda always have...) ✂️

FIRST....we'll teach you lots of Pattern Cutting tools and techniques.
You will learn how to:
Adjust darts
Add fullness / Remove fullness
Create panel seams
Cut sleeves
Cut collars and facings
Create openings.
You will mock up (toile) these techniques and see them on your body stand.

THEN...you will make up your own personal calico body toile and we will fit and adjust your base body Block Pattern together.

FINALLY...you will design and cut your own first pattern using your own personal block and using the techniques learned.

IN THIS WAY....you will KNOW that every pattern you create will fit you and your body perfectly, EVERY time. This will be your starting pattern for every top, jacket dress pattern in your future.

Level 2 is the next step after the Beginners sewing Course and covers garment making skills...zips, pockets, gathers, pleats.

The final make - your choice of garment make in your own size using our SewingNi original patterns - our pull on trouser with side pockets is the most popular!

You'll learn from the very beginning.

This course will cover:
Workshop Safety
Setting up the machine
Troubleshooting machine tension
Sewing
Sewing seams
Hems
Topstitching
Using scissors, pins, chalk
Sewing around shaped pieces (make a cloth wallet)
How to press not iron
Have a go at overlocking
Introduction to patterns and pattern markings
Laying Up and cutting out

Make your own final piece...choice of Pyjama Shorts /trousers in your usual size (Adult Male, Female and children's patterns available), Apron, Cushion, Tote Bag.
We'll happily advise you on the fabric you need to purchase. We also have some pre-prepared packs available to buy but these are not compulsory.

All machines and equipment are supplied. You may find it useful to bring a notebook and pen to jot down ideas and make notes.

Refreshments are provided - please message in advance if you have any dietary particulars.
