For over 30 years, Blythswood has been distributing shoeboxes!

From the first lorry load of 300 shoeboxes to a total of 2.9 million, your support has helped to give essential items to some of the most disadvantaged people across Eastern Europe.

Help us continue to provide shoeboxes this year by getting involved. Whether you fill a shoebox, gift one, or pray for the appeal, we are very grateful for your support.

The 2026 Shoe Box Appeal has officially launched, and we’d love for you to be part of it!

Filled with small, practical items such as toiletries, stationery and clothing, your boxes are distributed across eight different countries in Europe to those in poverty and people whose lives have been affected by conflict.

Each box is personal. Each one is an expression of care. Each one lets someone know they have not been forgotten.

Get involved today - visit shoeboxappeal.org for full details on how to take part.

Thank you for your support towards our Shoe Box Appeal!

Our prayer theme this week is: Partners Upheld by God

Please pray for perseverance for Blythswood’s partners in Africa, Asia and Europe who are going through difficult days. Pray they will be strengthened and encouraged to keep going, knowing that in God’s strength, they are playing a vital part in changing lives for good and forever.

Meet Pete: a volunteer who has spent the last 15 years helping to change lives

Having worked in retail and in recycling, Pete was between jobs in 2011 when a friend suggested volunteering in our Banbridge shop. Fifteen years later, he’s still part of the team, generously giving four days a week to support our work.

From serving customers and sorting donations to moving furniture, Pete is always ready to help in different ways.

Apart from Blythswood, Pete’s interests include rugby (you’ll not find him in the shop on Saturdays) and motorbike racing, sometimes travelling as far afield as Duns in the Scottish borders to marshal at motocross events.

So why does he give so much time as a charity shop volunteer? “It’s an opportunity to mix with other people,” he says. “I really enjoy it. There are four volunteers in the Banbridge shop and I get on with everybody.”

To find out how you can volunteer for Blythswood, email [email protected] or call 01349 830777 (Scotland) or 028 9334 9859 (Northern Ireland).
