*LONG POST ALERT*
Following on from what can only be described as disturbing images from last night's football match between Wigan Athletic and Manchester United, featuring a child of around 11/12 using a disposable e-cigarette. I feel the need to assure each and every one of you that we are fully against a number of things here:
1- The device the child was using is an illegal device, the capacity of liquid held in this particular device far exceeds the legal capacity.
2 - If a product is coming into the UK prefilled with that capacity, the chances that it has been tested for any nasty ingredients is very slim.
3 - The ni****ne strength will be 2% - Sure 2% sounds extremely low to the majority of people, but this translates to 20mg/ml. This is actually the highest strength of ni****ne that a consumer may purchase legally. It is enough to cause an addiction when one will not have been there in the first place.
4 - The child's age. The child is clearly not of legal age to be purchasing any kind of to***co, it is doubtful he is old enough to buy a party popper.
VapeGB are and have always been advocates of helping people stop smoking. We are here to help our customers kick that habit. We would never endorse using an e-cigarette or any ni****ne product to anybody who does not already have an addiction.
As far as preventing youth va**ng, we have recently teamed up with MyCheckr and have installed a new technology in all our stores.
MyCheckr is a state of the art AI powered scanner, it assesses everyone who walks into the stores and let's the staff member know whether the customer appears 25 or under by simply displaying a Red (under 25) or Green (over 25) light.
Up to now, these devices have been fantastic at helping our staff and we think they are great!
Please note that these devices store zero information whatsoever and purely just scan customers for age verification. If at times we think the device may have got it wrong, we will still request ID as part of our Challenge 25 policy.
As much as this post sounds a bit of a rant, we want all our customers to be assured that we are doing everything we possibly can to prevent children getting their hands on e-cigarettes, but more importantly prevent them becoming addicted to something else that isn't their mobile phone!
If you have any questions about any of this then feel free to drop us a message.
