Rory is here 12-12.30pm to do a FREE taster session of chair yoga today to practice some mindfulness in the bookshop. Then from 1 until close, the girls from The Pamper Studio will be here to do some seated Indian Head/Shoulder massages. Come down and spend your afternoon in the shop and see how much bookshops can impact your wellbeing for the better!

Guys, we had our first Q&Q proposal last night. And she said yes!! We've been open almost 5 months and this place just keeps getting more and more magical. It's incredible. Thank you Nick for allowing us to be part of such a monumental moment. And to for coming down and capturing it. WE LOVE LOVE 💕💕💕

Tomorrow is Bookshop Day đŸ“šđŸ€Ž

This year, the Booksellers Association is shining a light on the role bookshops can play in our wellbeing not just as places to buy books, but as places to connect, escape, discover something new and feel part of a community.

So we wanted to add a little bit of that to The Quill & Quiver tomorrow. đŸ«¶

You’ll find our book recommendation cards hanging up, ready for you to share the books that have comforted you, changed you, got you out of a reading slump or simply stayed with you.

And dotted around the tables, you’ll find little cards of affirmation too — take the words you need, or leave some for somebody else. 💌

Because sometimes it’s a book. Sometimes it’s a conversation. Sometimes it’s just having somewhere you feel welcome.

That’s what independent bookshops can be. đŸ€Ž

Happy Bookshop Day! 📚

Ever wondered what makes a reader turn the page?

This month, we’re exploring the power of the first page. Together we’ll look at some standout opening pages and discuss how authors create intrigue, establish voice, and hook readers from the very first paragraph.

Then it’s your turn. Bring along your own opening page for feedback, or challenge yourself to write a brand new one. Sharing is encouraged, but never required.

The second half of the session is dedicated to uninterrupted writing time, giving you the space to work on your current project, start something new, or simply follow where your creativity leads. Lauren and Eden will be on hand throughout to offer feedback, advice, and encouragement.

The newest adaptation of Carrie premieres on Amazon Prime today... but wouldn’t you rather read the book first?

Before you press play, why not experience the story that made Stephen King a household name?

From the unsettling opening scenes to one of the most iconic endings in horror, Carrie remains a must-read over 50 years after it was first published.

And if you need any more convincing... this just so happens to be our social media admin’s favourite book of all time. She read it in a single day!

Pop into the shop and grab your copy before diving into the new adaptation.

❓Are you a “read the book first” or “watch the adaptation first” kind of person?

Life is busy, but sometimes all it takes is 10 minutes of reading to help you relax, unwind, and boost your wellbeing.

That’s the idea behind the National Literacy Trust’s Take 10 to Read campaign, which encourages people of all ages to stop and read for 10 minutes on the 10th October. Whether it’s a novel, magazine, comic, match report, recipe book, or article, it all counts.

This year, the campaign is also aiming to set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORD title for the most people reading online in 12 hours, bringing readers together from across the globe.

So wherever you are on 10th October, take 10 minutes for yourself and get lost in a good read.

❓What will you be reading for your 10 minutes?
