Oriel Afon Deri Gallery Oriel Afon Deri Gallery emerged from the exisiting Glandwyryd Gallery in Corris Uchaf which Don and Jacky Bennett had traded from for 43 years.

Upon their semi-retirement they offered workshop, gallery space and tuition to a group of local craftspeople.

And so Glandwyryd Stores Ceramics finally closes its doors. Thank you to everyone who came along to our two shop openings - it was truly lovely to hear your stories of collecting Mum and Dad's ceramics and knowing them both over the years.

We are so thankful to our parents for moving us here as a young family and being brave enough to follow their dream. We are grateful to all their customers throughout the years who supported them and us in living the life they wanted, where they wanted to live it.

We hope you'll continue to enjoy your collections and think of them when you dust them (Mum would say don't bother, and Dad would advise just running them under a cold tap).

From the proceeds of the car park pottery sale we're delighted to have been able to make a donation of £250 to the Twymyn Ward at Bro Dyfi Community Hospital.

The house, workshop and shop will shortly be listed for sale, so please get in touch if you'd like to take Glandwyryd on its next adventure ❤️

We're really looking forward to opening the Oriel Afon Deri Gallery tomorrow, 10th May. From 12-6pm, we'll be proudly displaying Don and Jacky's remaining ceramics. We'd love to see you and hear your stories about them and the pieces you've collected. Viewings of the workshop will also be possible for those who may wish to purchase ceramic equipment/materials or indeed a 5 bedroom house, garden and pottery studio with parking 😉

We will have refreshments and nibbles.

In the car park, there is also a collection of household items and furniture available free to good homes, so please have yourself a peruse!

Lowri and Beth ❤️

Thanks to everyone who made the trip to the opening of Glandwryryd Stores last month. It was so wonderful to meet you all and hear your memories of Mum and Dad along with the fabulous stories of your collections. They would have truly loved it all and we know the house enjoyed being so busy ❤️

We clearly chose Mother's Day for the opening as a distraction for ourselves, but we realise that meant a lot of people already had plans. Due to this and as we've happened upon some further pieces of work which could be available for sale, we have decided to do it all again! We strongly feel that Mum and Dad's remaining ceramics should be available to be collected by their customers, who they adored.

We'd love you to join us on Saturday 10th May for what will (definitely this time!) be the last time Glandwyryd Stores opens it's shop doors. We will be there from 12 noon- 6pm and there will be refreshments and nibbles. Once again we'll only be able to accept cash payments (we still haven't found the card machine 🤣)

After the final shop opening, the building will be made ready to be sold. Though it breaks our hearts to part with our dear family home, it's now time for it's next adventure. With that in mind, the house could be sold with a working Pottery Workshop and we'd be so happy to see new ceramics being produced there. If anyone would like to view the workshop on the 10th of May that could be arranged. There may be some materials and pieces of equipment (clay etc.) that could be purchased by any budding potters.

❗️SATURDAY May 10th 12-6pm❗️

[Thanks to Louis Eveleign for the lovely photos]

Final preparations are underway before we open Glandwyryd Stores again tomorrow. The shop is looking splendid. For collectors, we're pleased that we've gathered up a good variety of Don and Jacky's amazing ceramics. We're looking forward to seeing you.

We'll be open from 11am-5pm (Sunday 30th March)

We'll only be able to accept cash and if you fancy bringing your own bag/parking material then that would be great 🤣

We've decided that we'll be making a donation to the Twymyn Ward at Machynlleth Hospital following the shop opening, a critical resource which has bought comfort and dignity to many family members and friends ❤️

Glandwyrd Stores Ceramics first opened its doors in Corris Uchaf in 1977. For the next 48 years Donald Bennett and Jacky Bennett produced work which was collected from far and wide and which was exhibited in galleries and craft shops around the world. They loved what they did, adored where they did it and were passionate about how they did it.

From their infamous candle snuffers, the iconic Welsh ladies to the rural scene figurines, their work never failed to delight and capture the hearts of those who collected it.

They never stopped working - they were Potters and it was their life. Don and Jacky both passed away recently, just 5 weeks apart. They will be missed so very much, but it was perhaps the most fitting end to the most inspirational 57 year marriage and partnership.

As they never stopped producing, they have left behind a quantity of work. Work they produced with the hope of it finding a collector and gracing a shelf somewhere. Many collectors have contacted us (Bethan and Lowri Morris, Don and Jacky's daughters) to enquire as to whether any work will be for sale. With this in mind, we've decided to open the doors of Glandwyrd Stores one last time in celebration of Don and Jacky and their incredible artistic legacy.

The shop will be open from 11am-5pm on Sunday 30th of March.

We would love to see you. Due to logistics, it's likely we will be able to accept cash only and please bring your own bag 😉❤️

For those who knew Don and Jacky, there will be a celebration of their life in June. We will share further details of this as they unfold x

As most of you may know the lovely Jacky Bennett passed away last week . She and Don had been making the most beautiful pottery over the last 40 years or so.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank them both in giving me a chance to find my inner creativity. I have really enjoyed the last six years of working with them both and I will continue to pursue my love for pottery .
Jacky had the most amazing talent in painting hares amongst many other things and her witty sense of humour and her encouragement will always remain with me .
Diolch Jacky a cwsg yn dawel ❤️
