Giffords Circus Music Director, James Keay is looking for musicians for the 2024 tour.

The band will be playing and devising a score of original music mixed with arrangements, drawing on medieval music and British psychedelia.

We are primarily looking for saxophone players, guitarists, bassists and pianists, but are very open to other ideas. Doubling musicians are especially sought.

You will be an integral part of the whole show; an energetic and enthusiastic approach to performance is a must.

The auditions will be in London on 16th-18th December. Please bring 2-3 contrasting pieces, and be prepared to improvise or sight-read. A piano accompanist and facility for backing tracks will be provided.

The 2024 season will be from 26 February until 29th September, including four weeks of catered rehearsals at full pay. You will be performing in an international troupe of jugglers, acrobats, horses, clowns and dogs in a tent you have helped put up yourself. Accommodation provided in the form of a vintage circus wagon or bunk.

There may also be opportunities for further work with us both in future seasons and in the off period in between.

Giffords Circus is looking for one more person to fulfil the role of ‘Ringboy’ on their dedicated team for Avalon.

‘Ringboy’ is a traditional circus phrase for a costumed, prop setting role that is integral to the smooth running of the show. You will live and travel with Giffords Circus.

This is an extremely demanding physical role working sometimes none stop throughout three shows a day and building the Big Top, but anyone can apply. This is a unique role and very fun for the right person. You would enjoy performing and setting props, rigging, working with professionals from all over the world and as part of a large and closely knitted team.

Experience with manual handling is important and circus skills, telehandler and HGV licenses are also useful but not essential.

You must be available from February to October 2024 to be considered for this position. Giffords Circus is an equal opportunities employer, all applications will be considered regardless of gender.
