When I started Doodlicious, the idea came from a visit to York. Seeing local artists creating beautifully quirky illustrations of the city—pieces that both tourists and locals could treasure—really stayed with me. It inspired me to do the same for Trowbridge… because let’s be honest, sometimes Trowbridge feels like the forgotten sibling of Wiltshire towns, and it deserves a little boost now and then.

That said, Doodlicious has always been more of a passion project than a big business—something that keeps me grounded (and sane!) in a slightly mad world.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on past travels and places that have truly stayed with me. One of the most magical has to be Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech. We’ve visited twice, and honestly, the beauty of that garden is beyond words. If heaven existed as a garden, Majorelle would be very close for me. I absolutely love it—and yes, I’m already planning my next visit because I need my fix.

So… this is Majorelle No.1 🌿

The first piece in what I plan (and I really do mean plan!) to be a collection of three. I’ve always had a thing about doing things in threes… now I just need to follow through!

Creating artwork like this helps me through difficult moments. Playing with colour, shape, and detail lifts darker moods—and I truly hope that when you see my work, it brings even the smallest smile to your face. If it does, then I’ve done what I set out to do.

I’ve also shared a bit of my digital process—because if you’ve got the tools, why not use them! It’s all part of the journey.

Anyway… if you’ve read this far, thank you—I genuinely appreciate it ❤️
And keep an eye out… more pieces will appear when they appear!

See you soon, you doodlicious buddies ✨

A little bit different from me this time…

Back in 2007, I worked with Mike Prior and together we created the Wiltshire flag, which was officially adopted by Wiltshire Council in 2009. It’s one of those things I tend to massively underplay, because being British we’re supposed to shrug things off and pretend it’s no big deal… but actually, nearly 20 years on, I’m really proud that it’s out there.

This piece came into my head a couple of days ago and wouldn’t leave me alone, so I had to draw it.

A little bit about the Wiltshire Flag
The green and white chevrons are inspired by the chalk downs which run across Wiltshire. The green and white circle in the centre is based on the stone circles found across the county, but it also represents the six counties which surround Wiltshire. Sitting in the middle is the great bustard, which was successfully reintroduced and has now made its home again on Salisbury Plain.

So this drawing represents Wiltshire, Stonehenge, the flag and the great bustard.

There’s definitely a bit of artistic licence involved here… fewer stones, a few extra chevrons, and a great bustard roughly the size of Salisbury Cathedral 😆 But that’s the fun of it.

It feels a little strange using and reworking something I helped create all those years ago, but I wanted to celebrate Wiltshire as a whole rather than just specific towns.

Anyway, this one is out in the world now, and I hope you like it.

Here’s the start of my Wiltshire bird collection for Doodlicious 🐦

So far we’ve got the Great Bustard of Salisbury Plain, the peacocks of Corsham, and of course the famous Bythesea Road seagulls of Trowbridge.

But what else should make the cut?

Swans on the Kennet & Avon? Pigeons of the town centre? Ducks from the park? Robins in the garden? Maybe the odd cheeky magpie?

What feathered friend do you think deserves a place in the Wiltshire bird collection? Pop your suggestions in the comments 👇

Spring has officially sprung, the birds are out causing chaos in the gardens, and it’s got me thinking… 🐦🌸

So, I’ve decided to start a brand new Doodlicious range featuring local birds in local settings.

The first little blighter has already nested … but can you guess what species this might be? And where in Wiltshire do you think we’d find it?

Answers in the comments please. Bonus points if you get both right 👀
