My days are usually filled with the bright, beautiful fabrics of your memory bears but my evening hobby has been a bit more monochrome! I think it’s time for me to push through my fear of colour, and get some paint under my fingernails.

This trio of bears have been handcrafted in honour of a truly missed nan.

I was given the privilege of deciding which clothes to use for each bear from the selection of her favourites, as long as each keepsake included some of her memorable PJs. There are times when I get a sense of what someone was like just by looking at the clothes that their loved ones remember them by, and this lovely lady was no exception, bold and colourful prints all the way.

I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has messaged me over the last couple of weeks about memory bears and keepsakes. I’ve had so many lovely messages from returning customers, and also from new customers who have been recommended to me by family, friends and work colleagues. It honestly means more than you probably realise.

Running a small creative business around my sometimes unpredictable timetable, means that I’m incredibly grateful to have customers who understand that I don't always work in the usual 9 - 5 way. Being able to create these special pieces in a way that fits around my life is something I don't take for granted. Every recommendation, message, order and kind word helps me continue doing something I absolutely love, so thank you for trusting me with such precious memories and for supporting my little business.

And because creativity doesn't always happen at convenient times here’s are a couple of drawings I did during the early hours this morning while I was awake through the night. I’ve been enjoying learning to draw over the last year or so, and apparently 3am is now prime drawing time!

A few months ago I started attending a life drawing session, two hours a week with no phone or other distractions to sit and draw models. Sadly they were put on hold over the summer but that hasn’t stopped me from picking up a pencil whenever I can. Drawing helps me through moments of anxiety, and the two hours spent in the drawing sessions were perfect ‘me time’. That time is now often found late into the evening, when it seems as though the rest of the world is sleeping.

This adorable bear has been handcrafted from a combination of a spotty shirt, and a stripy one. I love that the spots and stripes together make for the sweetest keepsake!

I also created the matching heart featuring part of the button placket. The heart is cute on its own, but it is also a reminder of the well loved and treasured shirt it was made from.
