What if Lady Godiva hadn’t taken her famous ride? What if Frank Whittle had never invented the jet engine? What if Coventry City had never lifted the FA Cup?

The Time Travelling Coventry Taxi takes young readers on an adventure through time as Oscar and Caleb race to put history back on track and rediscover the people and moments that made Coventry the city it is today.

Co-written with my son Oscar, this book is about more than time travel. It’s about curiosity, imagination and helping children understand that history is shaped by ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

A real full-circle moment today, returning to Barr’s Hill School as the guest speaker and awards presenter at their annual awards ceremony in Coventry Cathedral.

It was a privilege to share my story with more than 1,000 pupils, families, teachers and staff, and to celebrate the achievements of the next generation of Barr’s Hill students.

Meet the Coventry Kids celebrates twelve remarkable people and groups who have helped shape our city’s story - from inventors and pioneers to musicians, entertainers and sporting icons.

My hope is that this book helps children see that extraordinary people don’t just come from far away places. They can come from the same streets, schools and communities that today’s young readers know so well.

Because when children see what’s possible, they begin to believe that they can achieve great things too.
